PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Khalid Mamedov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zell Dincht (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mamedov kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Shamhan Daldaev - Eto Kavkaz. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Khalid Mamedov!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Zell Dincht!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yuuki Gou and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dincht blocks a jab.
Mamedov looks to land a right hand but Dincht moved out of range.
Mamedov works Dincht's body with a nice hook.
Mamedov tests Dincht's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Dincht comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Mamedov, as that shot connected.
Mamedov dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Dincht takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Dincht has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Dincht takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Mamedov shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Mamedov was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Dincht avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Mamedov.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Mamedov is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Dincht has escaped the position, nice work there.
Mamedov trying to control the action but Dincht is working from the bottom.
Dincht sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Mamedov trying to control from half guard but Dincht is working away.
Mamedov definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Mamedov not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Mamedov seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Mamedov is looking for a kimura here.
Mamedov is keen to just control but Dincht is a slippery customer.
Dincht keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Mamedov tries to pass to full mount but Dincht defends it.
Dincht is refusing to be controlled, as Mamedov sits in half guard.
Mamedov working the head and body with strikes.
Dincht avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Mamedov.
Mamedov trying to mount his opponent but Dincht defends it.

Mamedov throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Dincht wants to get back to full guard.
Mamedov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Mamedov missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Mamedov keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Mamedov uses his free foot to push down on Dincht's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Dincht.

Mamedov goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Dincht turns into him and now he's in Mamedov's guard.
Dincht trying to control the position from guard on top but Mamedov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Dincht controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Dincht really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mamedov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Dincht is posturing up here but Mamedov has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Dincht tries to roll out but it's too tight and Dincht has to tap! Slick submission there by Mamedov!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Khalid Mamedov!
Khalid Mamedov is the new middleweight champion!
A relieved looking Khalid Mamedov thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
