Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Xiquinho Fodetudo!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Illya Tyunina and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Fodetudo misses.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fodetudo looks to land a left hand but Grove moved out of range nicely.
Grove shoots for a takedown but Fodetudo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and Fodetudo counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Fodetudo misses with a looping right.
Grove attempts a counter takedown but Fodetudo avoids it well and moves away.
A looping hook to the body misses from Fodetudo. Grove does a little dance to reset his feet.
Fodetudo throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Grove stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Grove shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Fodetudo but Fodetudo pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Grove drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Fodetudo comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Grove uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Fodetudo.
Sidney Grove seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Grove shoots in for a takedown but Fodetudo shows good takedown defense.
Fodetudo leaves Grove with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and Fodetudo counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Grove shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Fodetudo defends it nicely.
Fodetudo has worked on his takedown defense in the runup to this fight and it is paying off so far.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Fodetudo catches Grove with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

A punch lands to the side of Grove 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Grove dives in for a single leg takedown but Fodetudo sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

It seemed like Fodetudo was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Grove drops down looking for an ankle pick but Fodetudo pulls his leg out and moves away.

Fodetudo looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Fodetudo bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Grove gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Fodetudo counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Grove closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Fodetudo did well to prevent Grove getting side control.

Grove looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Grove is looking for a kimura but Fodetudo is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Grove to get the leverage.
Grove tries to pass the half guard into mount. Fodetudo knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Fodetudo wants to improve his position but Grove is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Grove connects with a nice short shot to Fodetudo's temple.

Fodetudo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Grove. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
