Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jerome Le Banner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Wayne Barret!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Banner fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Barret sprawls well initially but Banner persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Barret kicks Banner off and gets back to his feet.
Banner misses with a looping right.
Barret wants to counter the offense by Banner and move into the clinch position.
Barret uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Banner.
Barret throws a shot from downtown. Banner moves away and avoids it.
Barret uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Banner.
Banner lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A nice inside leg kick there by Barret. That's going to slow Banner down.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Barret holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Barret pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Banner blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
A head punch on the inside from Barret fails to land.
Barret misses with a hook to the ribs.
Banner takes a shot to the head.
Banner is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Banner fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
A nice left hand lands by Barret.
Banner has Barret pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Barret manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Barret misses with a hook from the clinch.
Banner softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Barret misses with a punch on the inside.
Barret swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Barret misses with a punch to the body.
Barret blocking some punches.
Barret misses with some punches.
Banner is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jerome Le Banner. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Barret lands a left hand that snaps the head of Banner backwards.

Banner has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Barret is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Barret working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Banner is trying to drag Barret to the mat but Barret just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Banner blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Banner drops down looking for an ankle pick but Barret pulls his leg out and moves away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Banner fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
And Barret responds with a good body kick, but Banner manages to step out the way in time.
Banner shoots and misses
and Barret counters with a nice uppercut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Barret avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Barret is looking to slow Banner down with leg kicks.
Banner takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Banner.
Barret tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Barret is trying to control Banner's posture but Banner avoids it.
Banner is trying to ground and pound but Barret uses the momentary lack of control by Banner to regain half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Banner thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Banner connects with a nice short shot to Barret's temple.
Barret wants to improve his position but Banner is controlling well.
Barret gets full guard.
Banner is in close to Barret's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Barret is trying to control the position but Banner postures up.
Barret has his hands on Banner's head, controlling the position.
Banner throws a big right hand that misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Barret keeping moving, preventing Banner from controlling successfully.
Banner with a flurry of punches that miss.

Barret is looking for a triangle but Banner pushes his legs off easily.
Barret keeping moving, preventing Banner from controlling successfully.
Barret is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Banner throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Barret works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Banner wants to control from the top but Barret keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Banner gets to his feet and stands over Barret, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Barret felt that one! Banner unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Barret from any more punishment!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jerome Le Banner!
A very excited looking Jerome Le Banner made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
