And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Charles DaCoca!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DaCoca keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Palelei lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.


It looks like Charles DaCoca has been cut.

Palelei throws a head kick but DaCoca moves out of range.
Palelei scores with a jab to the body.
Palelei misses with a straight right.
Palelei swings widly with a right hand
and DaCoca counters with a body kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Palelei throws out a loose jab but DaCoca uses good head movement to avoid it.
DaCoca let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Palelei throws a big counter combination but DaCoca scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

DaCoca has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

DaCoca ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Palelei moves away.

and DaCoca counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Palelei takes a swing at DaCoca's ribcage but misses.
DaCoca walks into a left hand.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Palelei misses with an attempted mid kick.
DaCoca now looks to counter with a shot at the body.

and DaCoca counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

DaCoca throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Palelei's head.
DaCoca gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Palelei tries to work over DaCoca's front leg with a kick but DaCoca checks it.
DaCoca flicks out a counter leg kick but Palelei steps away.

DaCoca throws a sloppy head kick and Palelei moves out of range easily.
Palelei fakes high and swings low for a body shot but DaCoca manages to avoid it.
DaCoca tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Palelei was well out of range. Poor timing from DaCoca.

and Palelei cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.


The cut above Charles DaCoca's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Palelei throws an uppercut from half a mile away. DaCoca sees it coming and avoids it easily.
A slow jab from Palelei misses its intended target.
DaCoca tries a head kick but it misses.
A looping hook to the body misses from DaCoca. Palelei does a little dance to reset his feet.
DaCoca throws a shot to the body.
DaCoca throws a front kick aimed at Palelei's knee but Palelei avoids it well.
DaCoca lands a nice leg kick that just misses Palelei's sensitive parts.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Palelei scores with a kick to the body.
DaCoca takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Nice straight punches there by DaCoca. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of DaCoca.

and DaCoca counters with a nice uppercut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
DaCoca lands with a thumping leg kick.
Palelei smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

and Palelei counters with a nice kick to the body.
Palelei ducks down and throws a hook to the body but DaCoca moves away.

Palelei throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as DaCoca stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Palelei follows into mount!


Charles DaCoca's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Charles DaCoca's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Soa Palelei!
Soa Palelei retains his heavyweight title!
Soa Palelei decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
Charles DaCoca spoke after the fight, saying 'That was unexpected.. Well done.'.
