Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Erick Clap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joao De Santo Cristo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Clap comes to the cage accompanied by Burn it to the ground. De Santo Cristo has chosen Que país é esse? as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 2, fighting out of New York, Erick Clap!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joao De Santo Cristo!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Santo Cristo slips under a jab.
De Santo Cristo displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Clap throws out the jab.
Good standup being displayed there by De Santo Cristo as he connects with a hook.
Clap throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

De Santo Cristo gets a double leg takedown into Clap's guard.

De Santo Cristo working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

De Santo Cristo cracks Clap with a solid left hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Clap controls De Santo Cristo momentarily but De Santo Cristo frees himself.
De Santo Cristo keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Clap's head.

De Santo Cristo postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
De Santo Cristo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Clap swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Clap avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
De Santo Cristo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Clap is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Clap preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
De Santo Cristo postures up in Clap's guard and throws a big left but Clap blocks it.
Clap wants to get back to his feet but De Santo Cristo is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

De Santo Cristo fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Clap.
De Santo Cristo looks for a takedown but Clap sprawls well.
Clap throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

De Santo Cristo tries to close the distance and clinch but Clap swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
De Santo Cristo stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Clap.
Joao De Santo Cristo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Clap circles away from the clinch attempt.
Clap fires out a quick counter leg kick but De Santo Cristo just manages to avoid it.
Clap takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
De Santo Cristo shoots and misses
and Clap counters with a lovely shot to the body.

De Santo Cristo has managed to clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Clap pushes De Santo Cristo back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Clap lands a right hand.
De Santo Cristo lands a nice uppercut.
De Santo Cristo tries to throw a body punch but Clap avoids it by throwing De Santo Cristo back against the cage.
Clap can't break the clinch.
Clap lands with a short head shot on the inside.
De Santo Cristo pushes Clap back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

A head punch on the inside from Clap fails to land.
Clap lands a body punch.
Clap lands a hook to the side of the head.

De Santo Cristo misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Clap tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
De Santo Cristo lands on the inside with an uppercut.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Clap is trying to break the clinch but De Santo Cristo is controlling him.

De Santo Cristo drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Clap gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Erick Clap has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joao De Santo Cristo.

Clap manages to break the clinch.
De Santo Cristo misses with a low kick as Clap jumps back.

Clap gets caught flat footed, as De Santo Cristo shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
De Santo Cristo postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Clap looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! De Santo Cristo has picked Clap up and slammed him! Clap can't keep hold of the triangle and De Santo Cristo manages to pass to side control!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joao De Santo Cristo dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Nice straight punches there by De Santo Cristo. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of De Santo Cristo.

Clap throws a sloppy head kick and De Santo Cristo moves out of range easily.
Clap gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Joao De Santo Cristo seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Clap fakes high and swings low for a body shot but De Santo Cristo manages to avoid it.
De Santo Cristo wants to counter with a clinch but Clap pushes him away.

De Santo Cristo misses with an uppercut. Clap saw that one coming.
Good leg kick by Clap there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
De Santo Cristo misses with a takedown attempt - Clap sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Clap gets caught napping as De Santo Cristo dives in and scores a takedown. Clap manages to retain guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as De Santo Cristo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
De Santo Cristo has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Clap wants to sweep here but De Santo Cristo controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

De Santo Cristo sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Clap's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Clap moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
De Santo Cristo trying to control the position from guard on top but Clap is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Clap is adopting a defensive guard.

Clap working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. De Santo Cristo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. De Santo Cristo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Clap looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but De Santo Cristo puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Clap tries to roll over but De Santo Cristo keeps him under control.

De Santo Cristo stalling away here and it's allowed Clap to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Clap working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. De Santo Cristo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. De Santo Cristo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

De Santo Cristo might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Clap haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
