Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Khunbish Borjigin (ranked 603 p4p, 79 weight class) and Taiga Jim (ranked 959 p4p, 133 weight class). Khunbish Borjigin could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Taiga Jim's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Khunbish Borjigin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Taiga Jim!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Atkins and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Left hook, right uppercut from Jim.
Borjigin ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jim moves away.
Borjigin throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
A big left from Borjigin misses.
Jim looks to land a left hand but Borjigin moved out of range nicely.
A little feinted left hand from Borjigin on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Jim bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Jim is looking to take a break and control but Borjigin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Jim in side control, throwing shots but Borjigin defends.
Borjigin is trying to control Jim's posture but Jim avoids it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Borjigin defending against the ground and pound.
Jim throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Jim working the head with strikes.

Jim lands a nice forearm strike.
Jim throwing strikes but Borjigin manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Jim is not content to let Borjigin control the position.
Jim tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Borjigin presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Jim is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Jim has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Jim regains half guard.
Borjigin tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jim knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Jim is positioning himself well to prevent Borjigin advancing to mount.
Jim gets back to full guard.

Jim has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Borjigin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jim swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Borjigin is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at GWad's Playpen that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jim wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Taiga Jim seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A head kick misses from Borjigin.
Khunbish Borjigin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Borjigin gets caught napping as Jim dives in and scores a takedown. Borjigin manages to retain guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jim working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Borjigin has Jim pulled in close to control his posture.
Borjigin keeping moving, preventing Jim from controlling successfully.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Taiga Jim dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Jim fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Borjigin on the side of the head.
Borjigin keeps the fight on the outside.
An attempted straight right counter from Borjigin misses the target.
Jim checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Borjigin.
Jim throws out a loose jab but Borjigin uses good head movement to avoid it.

Jim has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

enabling Jim to counter with a crisp jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jim throws a jab but it's blocked by Borjigin.
A little feinted left hand from Borjigin on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Jim pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Borjigin back to the cage. Jim follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Borjigin takes a shot to the body in his stride.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Borjigin buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Borjigin swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Jim throws out a counter right but Borjigin avoids it with no problem.
Jim misses with a wild combination.
Jim darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Borjigin throws a body punch but Jim moves out of range.
Jim tests Borjigin's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Jim misses with a body shot.
Jim scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Borjigin throws a leg kick that misses.
A jab from Jim finds it's way through Borjigin's defenses.
Borjigin takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Borjigin slips a jab from Jim.

Nice defenses there by Borjigin.
Jim lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jim connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Borjigin momentarily.
Borjigin takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
A left lands for Jim.
Borjigin leaves Jim with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Jim lands with a slapping head kick.
Jim takes a swing at Borjigin's ribcage but misses.
A counter left hand to the body from Borjigin misses its target.
Borjigin thows a body kick. Jim tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Jim scores with a jab to the jaw.
Borjigin takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Borjigin looks to land a body kick but Jim moved away.
Jim misses with a right hand
and Borjigin counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Nice body kick from Borjigin.
Jim throws a big shot that misses.
Borjigin on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Jim looks for a takedown but Borjigin sprawls well.
Borjigin tries a head kick but it misses.
A nice leg kick lands there from Borjigin.
Jim moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Jim lands a nice shot to the body.
Jim misses with a hook
and Borjigin counters with a nice uppercut.
Borjigin moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Jim shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Borjigin manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Borjigin lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Borjigin slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Jim tries to bench press Borjigin off him but Borjigin keeps the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Taiga Jim showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Borjigin.
A slow jab from Borjigin misses its intended target.

Jim scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Borjigin sneaks out the side door and pushes Jim away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

so Jim counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Jim postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Borjigin can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jim controls the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Borjigin lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Jim has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Jim and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

A looping hook to the body misses from Jim. Borjigin does a little dance to reset his feet.
Borjigin is looking to counter punch.
Borjigin throws a hook but Jim blocks it.
Jim has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Borjigin.

Khunbish Borjigin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Jim throws a shot to the body.
Jim scores with a jab.
Borjigin takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Jim bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Borjigin's head.
Borjigin misses with a body kick.
Borjigin goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Jim counters with a nice double leg into side control. Borjigin won't be happy with that.

Taiga Jim is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
You can see the frustration on Borjigin's face as Jim controls the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Taiga Jim comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jim has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
