Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Badr Al Din! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andrew Frame! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Frame looks to land a left hand but Al Din moved out of range nicely. Al Din seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Frame staying out of range there. Frame throws a shot from downtown. Al Din moves away and avoids it. Al Din scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Al Din displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Frame throws out the jab. Al Din misses with a looping right. Frame throws an overhand right that lands on Al Din's shoulder, as Al Din tries to avoid the shot. Al Din blocks a jab. Al Din fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Frame, pushing him back against the cage. Al Din ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Al Din no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Al Din looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Frame has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Al Din is proving hard to escape from. Al Din is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Frame really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Al Din. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Frame would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Al Din is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Frame has his hands clasped together but Al Din extends and breaks Frame's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Al Din.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Badr Al Din! Our winner, Badr Al Din, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
