Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 24 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Ivo Koljeno! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alex Steiner! The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Donatello Bradman and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Steiner has Koljeno up against the cage in a clinch.
Steiner decides to pull guard. Steiner seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Steiner lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Steiner decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Koljeno, up you get! Koljeno shoots in but Steiner avoids the takedown attempt easily. Koljeno shoots in and drives through. Steiner sprawls well. Koljeno tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Steiner swivels and escapes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ivo Koljeno. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Steiner gets to his feet. Koljeno looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Steiner closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Koljeno just misses with a elbow thrown towards Steiner's brow. Koljeno stalling in the clinch but Steiner improves position. Steiner ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Steiner no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Steiner is pulling down on Koljeno's head to control his posture. Koljeno throws a strike but Steiner rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Steiner stands and steps away. Koljeno gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Steiner pushes Koljeno off and scrambles back to his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Steiner wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Steiner looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Steiner is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Steiner uses the cage to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Steiner gets in close and instigates a clinch. Koljeno tries to pull guard but Steiner won't allow it.
Koljeno misses with a knee to the head. Koljeno throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Steiner blocks it with crossed arms. Steiner ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Steiner no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Koljeno has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Steiner bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Koljeno's guard.

Koljeno tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Steiner avoids it. Steiner has picked Koljeno up - he's going for a ride! Steiner dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Steiner stands up from half guard. Steiner moves into the clinch successfully.

Koljeno pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Steiner gets a trip takedown into half guard. Koljeno is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Steiner postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Koljeno to stand up. Steiner has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Koljeno shoots in for a double leg but Steiner sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Steiner gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Steiner wants the takedown. Koljeno is fighting it off but Steiner persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Koljeno's guard against the cage. Steiner stands up from guard. Let's bang! Koljeno is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Koljeno dives in for a single leg takedown but Steiner sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Steiner clinches up with Koljeno and pushes him back against the cage. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Koljeno misses with a knee strike.

Alex Steiner showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Steiner clinches up against the cage. Koljeno is fighting off a takedown attempt but Steiner is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Koljeno to the mat. Koljeno regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Steiner stands up from guard. Let's bang! Koljeno shoots in looking for a takedown but Steiner manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Koljeno's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Steiner clinches. Steiner blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Now Koljeno has his back to the cage. Steiner is trying to trip Koljeno. He has hold of a leg but Koljeno is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Steiner persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Koljeno is wriggling around but Steiner manages to pass to half guard.

And that's the end of the fight! Alex Steiner comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Steiner has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
