Coming up we have a light heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Andriy Pavlyuchenko (ranked 18029 p4p, 864 weight class) and Steel Penn Jr (ranked 21774 p4p, 833 weight class). Pavlyuchenko comes to the ring accompanied by Mushroomhead-Soltaire Unraveling. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andriy Pavlyuchenko! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Steel Penn Jr! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shigeki Sano and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pavlyuchenko misses with a low kick as Penn Jr jumps back. Pavlyuchenko tests Penn Jr's chin there with a solid looking shot. Pavlyuchenko misses with an uppercut. Penn Jr saw that one coming. Penn Jr throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Penn Jr takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. A slapping leg kick lands for Pavlyuchenko.
Pavlyuchenko moves into range and connects with a jab. Pavlyuchenko stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Penn Jr. Pavlyuchenko misses the shot to the body. Penn Jr doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Pavlyuchenko avoids the head kick by Penn Jr.
Penn Jr misses with a hook. Pavlyuchenko ducked under it nicely. Penn Jr has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Andriy Pavlyuchenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pavlyuchenko closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Pavlyuchenko throws a head kick but Penn Jr moves out of range.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Penn Jr on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

and Penn Jr counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pavlyuchenko misses with a looping right. Penn Jr moves out of range as Pavlyuchenko strikes. Penn Jr takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
A looping hook to the body misses from Pavlyuchenko. Penn Jr does a little dance to reset his feet. Penn Jr slips a jab and a cross from Pavlyuchenko.
Penn Jr looks to throw a body kick letting Pavlyuchenko counter with a right hand. Pavlyuchenko connects with a jab. Pavlyuchenko scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Penn Jr throws a hook but Pavlyuchenko avoids it easily. Pavlyuchenko misses the jab. Penn Jr throws a counter combo. Pavlyuchenko throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Penn Jr throws a head kick but Pavlyuchenko moves out of range.
Some bone on bone action there as Pavlyuchenko checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Penn Jr just misses with a punch to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pavlyuchenko avoids the head kick by Penn Jr.
Pavlyuchenko shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Penn Jr misses with the combination.
It looked like Pavlyuchenko was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Penn Jr throws a head kick that misses. Penn Jr throws a sloppy head kick and Pavlyuchenko moves out of range easily. Pavlyuchenko throws a lazy head kick and Penn Jr counters with an inside leg kick. Pavlyuchenko fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Penn Jr on the side of the head. Pavlyuchenko bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Penn Jr is rocked! Penn Jr takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Penn Jr is still on wobbly legs! Can Pavlyuchenko finish him? Penn Jr fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Pavlyuchenko checks it well. Pavlyuchenko cracks Penn Jr with a perfect right hand that drops him to the mat! Penn Jr is sitting up but I can't see if he's OK from my position. The referee's count has reached 5,6,7 and Penn Jr is still not up. Can he make it? 8,9,10! He's out! Penn Jr could not beat the count!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Andriy Pavlyuchenko! Andriy Pavlyuchenko took to the microphone after his victory and thanked his sponsors, Sully's Bar & Grill for their support in the buildup to the fight.
