Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paynuss Chonus (ranked 22508 p4p, 751 weight class) and Chol-Hyon An (ranked 8522 p4p, 664 weight class). Chonus comes to the cage accompanied by Reverend Paynus. The crowd seem to be enjoying An's choice of entrance music: Aegukka (DPRK national anthem). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paynuss Chonus! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chol-Hyon An! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Thiago Cunha and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Some wild striking there from Chonus.
Chonus dips to his left and cracks An with an uppercut! The fight stays on the outside here - An looks like he's thinking about clinching though. An tries to close the distance and clinch but Chonus swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. An drives through with a takedown into Chonus's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. An stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chonus swivels though and keeps the full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Chonus has his hands on An's head, controlling the position. Chonus is looking for a triangle but An pushes his legs off easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Chonus lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Chonus with a nice head shot there. An is looking to sweep but instead, Chonus has passed into half guard.

Chonus cracks An with a big elbow. Chonus connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused An some visible discomfort.
An is looking to regain half guard here but Chonus keeps moving and retains side control. Chonus looks up at the clock and then as An takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Chonus smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
An tries to improve position but can't. An is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Chonus asserts his dominance and retains side control. Chonus working away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Chonus scores with a couple of short elbows. Chonus just content to control the position. An wants to control but Chonus postures up. An is looking to reverse the position. Chonus lands a nice forearm strike. An tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Chonus wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. An takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

An tries to get back to half guard but can't. An keeps trying to improve his position. Chonus tries to control but An wriggling away. Chonus lands a couple of good shots and An has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
That's eight minutes gone in the round. An grimaces as he takes a shot to the body. Chonus wants to control but An is keeping busy. Chonus is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften An up.
An is trying to break free.
An is trying to remain composed but Chonus is hammering down strikes to the side of his head. Chonus has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. This has been an exciting period of action! Chonus punishes An with strikes from the back mount. Chonus has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for An. An rolls, trying to escape but Chonus keeps control of the position.
Chonus connects with a big shot to the side of An's head.
Chonus has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, An has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

That's nine minutes gone in the round. An is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Chonus is working the ground and pound. Can An escape? An is really stuck here.
Chonus lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can An hold on?!

An tries to clinch but Chonus moves out of range. Chonus changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. An takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Paynuss Chonus is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Chonus misses with a jab, cross combination.
Chonus connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Chonus throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Chonus keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
No luck with that takedown attempt from An. An tries to clinch but Chonus moves out of range. Chonus throws a right hand that An ducks under and follows up with a left that An also avoids with ease. Chonus misses with a wild combination.
An steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect. An moves in looking to clinch but Chonus pushes him off. Chonus seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Chonus keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. An closes the distance and clinches. An gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Chonus regains guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Chonus not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
