Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sergei Bumanov (ranked 7433 p4p, 646 weight class) and Ricardo Reis (ranked 8442 p4p, 685 weight class). Reis is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Linda Martini - Gravidade. Ricardo Reis told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sergei Bumanov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ricardo Reis! The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Ben Watson and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reis gets caught napping as Bumanov dives in and scores a takedown. Reis manages to retain guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Bumanov won't allow Reis to sweep him here. Bumanov wants to control from the top but Reis keeps moving. Bumanov is fighting to break Reis's control of his arms but Reis is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Bumanov trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Bumanov in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Bumanov trying to control but Reis is working from the bottom. Reis is pulling down on Bumanov's head to control his posture. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bumanov trying to control the position from guard on top but Reis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Reis has control of Bumanov's left arm, preventing Bumanov from doing any damage.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Reis stuffs the takedown attempt from Bumanov. Bumanov gets slowly back to his feet. Reis drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Bumanov defends it well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reis dives in for a single leg takedown but Bumanov sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes. Bumanov gets a clinch. A right hand to the body from Bumanov.
Reis is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. Bumanov gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Bumanov scores with an uppercut up the middle. Reis fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Reis avoids a wild elbow strike from Bumanov. A short right from Bumanov on the inside. Reis can't find room to land a body shot as Bumanov controls the action.

Bumanov shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Reis napping and manages to drive through into side control! Reis throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! No luck with that takedown attempt from Reis.

Bumanov shoots in for a takedown but Reis shows good takedown defense. Bumanov fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Reis, pushing him back against the ropes. Reis lands a right hand that snaps the head of Bumanov backwards. Reis throws a head punch that misses. Reis tries to pull guard but Bumanov won't allow it.
Reis is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the ropes enables Bumanov to keep the fight standing. Bumanov scores with a hook to the body. Reis looks winded! Reis is working for takedown but Bumanov is calmly controlling the position for now. A head punch blocked on the inside by Bumanov. Bumanov pulls Reis into guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Bumanov is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Reis is controlling him. Bumanov has momentary wrist control but Reis slips an elbow through the middle. Bumanov is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Bumanov tries to land a sweep but no joy. We've been informed that Reis has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Reis dives in for a single leg takedown but Bumanov sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes. Reis rushes Bumanov and presses him up against the ropes. Reis wants to take the fight to the mat but Bumanov manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Reis successfully pulls guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Reis is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Reis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bumanov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bumanov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Bumanov in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Reis keeping moving, preventing Bumanov from controlling successfully. Bumanov seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Reis is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Reis is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bumanov is controlling him. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bumanov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Bumanov shoots for a takedown but Reis saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Reis fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bumanov sprawls well initially but Reis persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Bumanov trying to control from the bottom.
Reis is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Bumanov trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Reis is hanging on to Bumanov's back as he tries to escape.
Reis looking to break Bumanov's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Bumanov remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Reis will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Reis gets his hands free as Bumanov looks to control. Bumanov tries to escape but Reis has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Reis biding his time, looking for the opening.

A close second round but Ricardo Reis will probably get the nod - 10:9. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Reis fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Ricardo Reis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bumanov lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Reis gets tackled into the ropes by Bumanov. Bumanov maintains the clinch. Bumanov pulls guard successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Reis fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Bumanov misses with a wild combination.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Reis can do anything to dispel that myth. Bumanov postures up.
Bumanov wants to get up but he can't break Reis's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Reis has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Bumanov is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Reis. Bumanov wants to stand but Reis has his arm trapped. Reis is looking for a sweep.

He has the arm isolated but Reis is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Reis tries to get back to half guard but can't. Bumanov goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Reis rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Bumanov's guard! Nice work there by Reis! Reis slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Bumanov looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
