7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Randy Springs! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Aleksandr Martynov and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thomas tries to clinch up. Springs shoots in for a takedown but Thomas shows good takedown defense. Thomas ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Springs moves away. Thomas tries to close the distance and clinch but Springs swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Springs on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Springs circles away from the clinch attempt.
Thomas with a poor takedown and Springs counters with a nice body shot. Thomas is looking to clinch. Springs keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Springs shoots in and bounces Thomas off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Springs working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Springs throwing strikes but missing. Springs wants to control from the top but Thomas keeps moving. Thomas is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Private Training Center that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet. Thomas on his back here. He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
