Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hiroshi Ekaku (ranked 272 p4p, 37 weight class) and Gerardo Pacheco (ranked 579 p4p, 70 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hiroshi Ekaku! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Gerardo Pacheco! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Bruno Lombardi and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ekaku slips a jab from Pacheco. Ekaku ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Ekaku throws a lazy uppercut
enabling Pacheco to counter with a crisp jab. Ekaku looks to throw the jab but Pacheco is out of range. Nice uppercut there from Pacheco. Ekaku fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Pacheco. The crowd cheers as Pacheco lands an impressive looking overhand right. Ekaku doesn't seem phased though. Ekaku throws a shot from downtown. Pacheco moves away and avoids it. Ekaku throws a lazy uppercut
enabling Pacheco to counter with a crisp jab. Pacheco slips under a jab from Ekaku. Pacheco throws a series of punches but Ekaku moves out of range. Ekaku swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Pacheco misses with a straight left. Hiroshi Ekaku seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ekaku turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Pacheco throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Pacheco with a nice cross. Pacheco takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Pacheco takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Ekaku bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ekaku keeps Pacheco at a distance using the push kick. Ekaku paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Pacheco scores with a nice right hand.
Pacheco takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Pacheco avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Pacheco tries to counter with a clinch but Ekaku shakes him off and moves away. Ekaku throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Pacheco sees it coming and avoids it easily. Pacheco staying out of range there. Ekaku misses with a left hand and Pacheco counters with a lovely shot to the body. Pacheco takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
A swing and a miss from Ekaku. Pacheco thuds a left hand into Ekaku's body. Ekaku swings for the body but Pacheco moves out of range.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ekaku jabbing away but nothing is landing. Ekaku dips to his left and cracks Pacheco with an uppercut! Ekaku misses with an uppercut. Ekaku scores with a jab.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pacheco listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Pacheco missing with a left hand there. Ekaku was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Ekaku's jab looks to have found its range, popping Pacheco under the eye. Ekaku is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight. Ekaku cracks a nice hook into Pacheco's ribs. A shot to the liver by Pacheco. Beautiful body shot. Pacheco throws a hook but Ekaku avoids it easily. Ekaku misses with a right hand and Ekaku takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. The crowd cheers as Ekaku lands an impressive looking overhand right. Pacheco doesn't seem phased though. Ekaku throws a shot from downtown. Pacheco moves away and avoids it. Pacheco throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Ekaku lands a jab. Pacheco moves away from the strike by Ekaku. Ekaku avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Pacheco is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Ekaku had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. A telegraphed right hand from Ekaku misses the target. Pacheco appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Pacheco stuns Ekaku with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Pacheco looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Pacheco displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ekaku throws out the jab.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pacheco connects with a jab. Ekaku misses with a looping left. Pacheco looks like he wants to counter punch here. Pacheco waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Ekaku. Ekaku swings widly with a right hand
letting Pacheco counter with a right hand. Ekaku throws a hook but Pacheco blocks it. A jab from Pacheco misses. Pacheco missing with a left hand there. Ekaku was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. An attempted straight right counter from Ekaku misses the target. Pacheco avoids the body shot from Ekaku.

Ekaku throws the left hand but Pacheco avoids the punch easily. Pacheco fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. A right-left combo lands from Pacheco. Pacheco throws a hook to the side of Ekaku's head but Ekaku sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Ekaku avoids a lazy jab quite easily. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ekaku thows a left - swing and a miss!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ekaku with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Pacheco to score with a decent uppercut. Ekaku misses with a looping left. Pacheco misses with a straight left. Pacheco misses with a wild body shot. Pacheco defending well as Ekaku loads up on a big left hand. Pacheco keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Ekaku. Ekaku moves out of range as Pacheco strikes. Pacheco tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ekaku was well out of range. Poor timing from Pacheco. Ekaku throws an overhand right that lands on Pacheco's shoulder, as Pacheco tries to avoid the shot. Pacheco stuns Ekaku with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. The fighters circling - Pacheco throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Pacheco takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Good shot there by Ekaku. Ekaku looks to land a right hand but Pacheco moved out of range. Ekaku misses with a hook. Ekaku throws a good cross that connects.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Hiroshi Ekaku will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Pacheco darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Ekaku uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Pacheco. Nice shot by Ekaku. Ekaku looks to throw the jab but Pacheco is out of range. It seemed like Pacheco was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Ekaku throws a hook to the side of Pacheco's head but Pacheco sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. A slow jab from Ekaku misses its intended target. Ekaku takes a body punch but keeps moving. Pacheco keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Ekaku pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Pacheco back to the cage. Ekaku follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Pacheco is rocked! Ekaku throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Pacheco stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Pacheco is still on wobbly legs! Can Ekaku finish him? Pacheco throws a poor cross that misses
and Ekaku counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. This has been an exciting period of action! Ekaku missing with a left hand there. Pacheco was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Pacheco ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Pacheco slips a straight right by Ekaku. Pacheco throws an overhand right that lands on Ekaku's shoulder, as Ekaku tries to avoid the shot. Pacheco looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Ekaku drops Pacheco with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Pacheco! Ekaku dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hiroshi Ekaku! Hiroshi Ekaku retains his featherweight title! Our winner, Hiroshi Ekaku, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
