Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andrei Vasilevskiy (ranked 1173 p4p, 151 weight class) and Jack Merel (ranked 2051 p4p, 242 weight class). Merel has chosen Laura Tesoro - Higher as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andrei Vasilevskiy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Merel!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vasilevskiy on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Merel. Merel obviously looking to wear him down.

Merel has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Vasilevskiy drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Merel manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Vasilevskiy has Merel in his guard.


Merel got a little sloppy there for a moment and Vasilevskiy has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Merel has managed to get both his arms back between Vasilevskiy's legs - danger averted.

Jack Merel showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

After the fight, Andrei Vasilevskiy was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
