PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a super heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Puck Heidegger (ranked 1576 p4p, 49 weight class) and Melek Taus (ranked 22475 p4p, 149 weight class). Taus has chosen A Cry For Vengeance as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Puck Heidegger! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Melek Taus! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Sam Margolis and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Heidegger throws a body kick that misses and Taus cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Taus checks a leg kick. Heidegger lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Heidegger.
It looks like Melek Taus has been cut. A looping hook to the body misses from Heidegger. Taus does a little dance to reset his feet. Taus throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. An attempted straight right counter from Heidegger misses the target. Heidegger fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Heidegger misses with a left hand and Taus counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Taus tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Heidegger was well out of range. Poor timing from Taus. Heidegger scores with a leg kick.
Taus pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Taus swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Heidegger scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Taus displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Heidegger throws out the jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Taus looks to score with a jab to the body but Heidegger is just out of range. Taus slips under a jab from Heidegger. Heidegger moves out of range of the strikes. Heidegger scoring well with a low kick there.

Heidegger throws a nice looking combination but Taus bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Heidegger looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. A big left from Taus misses. Heidegger ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Taus moves away. Taus fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Heidegger has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Heidegger throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. It seemed like Taus was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Heidegger on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Taus ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Heidegger moves away. Taus tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Heidegger throws a lazy body kick enabling Taus to counter with a crisp jab. Taus misses with a wild body shot. Taus throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Heidegger counters with a solid body kick. Heidegger misses with a low kick. Heidegger lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Heidegger does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Puck Heidegger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Heidegger lands a nice looking body kick. Taus throws an overhand right that lands on Heidegger's shoulder, as Heidegger tries to avoid the shot. Taus takes a body punch but keeps moving. Heidegger throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Puck Heidegger dominated that round. The cut man is working on Melek Taus's cut. That's time! Heidegger's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Heidegger fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Taus has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Taus throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Heidegger tests Taus's chin there with a solid looking shot. Heidegger scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Taus throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Heidegger is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Taus can do to turn this around? Heidegger avoids a lazy jab quite easily. It appears Heidegger was looking to counter with a kick there. Taus throws a low kick, looking for Heidegger's leg but Heidegger calmly moves out of range. Heidegger throws a nice head kick!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Taus throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Heidegger stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Heidegger misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Taus.
A little jabbing left from Taus on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Heidegger.

That's one minute gone in the round. Heidegger throws a leg kick but Taus checks it. Puck Heidegger is winning the standup battle so far. Nice defenses there by Taus. Taus doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Taus on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Taus scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Taus moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Taus throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Heidegger looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger. Taus takes one on the button. Taus on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Heidegger tries to land a front kick but Taus steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Some bone on bone action there as Taus checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Heidegger cracks the inside of Taus's front leg.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Taus swings and misses with a shot to the body and Heidegger counters with a stiff right hand. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Taus bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Heidegger's head backwards. Heidegger misses with a leg kick and Taus cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. You can see that Taus has visibly slowed down as a result of the leg kicks A combination from Heidegger does no damage. Taus let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Heidegger throws a predictable looking body shot
and Taus counters with a lovely straight right hand! A decent looking body kick lands there for Heidegger. Heidegger scores with a kick to the midsection. Heidegger thumps Taus with a low kick. Taus misses with a body punch
and Heidegger counters with a lovely shot to the body. Taus takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Taus walks into a straight right hand and goes down! Heidegger rushes to a neutral corner so the count doesn't get delayed but Taus has made it back to his feet on 5. He's OK so we're back to the action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Puck Heidegger will take that round after scoring the only knockdown of the round. The cut man is working on Melek Taus's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Heidegger connects with a quick right hand that sends Taus tumbling backwards onto the canvas! As his head bounces into the ropes, it doesn't look good for him beating the count! 3,4,5,6,7 and he's up! No, he's back down again! This one is all over - the referee has called off the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Puck Heidegger! Melek Taus spoke after the fight, saying 'Congratulations to my opponent. Sorry to my fans that my KT career had to come to an end with a loss, but my MMA future is just beginning. Now I can roll and grapple and prepare to take over the HW MMA scene!'.
