PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Julio Valeron Huhrera (ranked 1663 p4p, 165 weight class) and Arod Doyea (ranked 1187 p4p, 116 weight class). Doyea comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Doc Holiday - Volbeat kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! On his way into the cage it seems that Julio Valeron Huhrera has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Julio Valeron Huhrera seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Julio Valeron Huhrera !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Arod Doyea!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Marco Blurström and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Huhrera thuds a left hand into Doyea's body.
Doyea ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Huhrera moves away.
Huhrera fails with an attempt to clinch.
Huhrera rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Doyea moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Huhrera misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Doyea.
Doyea lands a right hook to the body.

Huhrera gets the takedown into side control.
Doyea is trying to control Huhrera 's posture but Huhrera avoids it.
Huhrera tries to move to mount but Doyea blocks the move with his legs.

Doyea tries to bench press Huhrera off him but Huhrera keeps the position.
Doyea is not content to let Huhrera control the position.
Huhrera working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Huhrera is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Doyea has escaped the position, nice work there.

Doyea is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
We've been hearing good reports from Huhrera 's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Huhrera wants to stand but Doyea has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Doyea wants to get back to full guard.

Doyea has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Huhrera is working away from the top position though.

Huhrera goes for an armbar but Doyea turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Doyea.
Doyea won't allow Huhrera to sweep him here.

Doyea throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Huhrera works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Huhrera is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Doyea defends well.

Doyea drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Huhrera manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Doyea has Huhrera in his guard.

Huhrera is pushing down on Doyea's leg trying to pass to half guard. Doyea is fighting to maintain full guard but Huhrera has managed to sneak the leg through.
Doyea keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Doyea wants to improve his position but Huhrera is controlling well.

Doyea fakes the leg kick and cracks Huhrera in the body.

Huhrera tries to close the distance and clinch but Doyea swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Huhrera counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Doyea!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Doyea is looking to get back to full guard here but Huhrera has managed to pass to side control instead.

Huhrera advances nicely into full mount.
Huhrera wants to stand but Doyea is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Huhrera lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Doyea is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Huhrera pulls his head out easily.

Huhrera is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Doyea can do to turn this around?

Huhrera winds up and cracks Doyea with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Huhrera drops an elbow to the side of Doyea's head.

Doyea kicks Huhrera off and gets back to his feet.
Huhrera tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Doyea paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Doyea tries a quick counter leg kick but Huhrera is wise to it.
Doyea tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Huhrera was well out of range. Poor timing from Doyea.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Doyea lands a jab to the nose.
Huhrera punishes Doyea's body with a nice straight punch.
A solid leg kick lands there for Doyea.
Huhrera takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Huhrera feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Huhrera throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Doyea attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

Huhrera throws a shot from downtown. Doyea moves away and avoids it.

letting Doyea counter with a right hand.
Huhrera sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Arod Doyea seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Doyea gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Huhrera darts in and clinches Doyea up against the cage.

Huhrera manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Huhrera bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Doyea's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Doyea working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Huhrera doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Huhrera manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Huhrera sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Doyea's guard.

Huhrera is nestled in close to Doyea, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Huhrera , winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Julio Valeron Huhrera was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
