Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Pearson (ranked 308 p4p, 44 weight class) and Super Heavyweight (ranked 238 p4p, 32 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Pearson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Super Heavyweight!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Chris Edwards and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good shot there by Heavyweight.
Pearson thows a body kick. Heavyweight tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Heavyweight stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Pearson.
Heavyweight has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Pearson finds it's way round the side to connect with Heavyweight's head.


It looks like Super Heavyweight has been cut.
Pearson lands with a nice body kick.
Heavyweight looks winded!
Pearson feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Heavyweight's calf.
Pearson connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Heavyweight's hands.
Pearson dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Heavyweight. That did some damage!
Pearson tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Pearson pivots, looking for a leg kick but Heavyweight is out of range and Pearson settles back down.
Heavyweight steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Pearson.

Heavyweight scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

and Heavyweight counters with a left to the body.
Heavyweight connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Pearson looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Heavyweight might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Pearson wants to slow Heavyweight down by chopping away at his legs.

Pearson fires out a quick counter leg kick but Heavyweight just manages to avoid it.

Pearson throws a hook but Heavyweight blocks it.

Heavyweight tries to work over Pearson's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Pearson digs a right hand underneath Heavyweight's ribcage. Heavyweight let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Pearson has Heavyweight pushed against the cage.
Pearson has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
