Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between David McCarthy (ranked 1996 p4p, 219 weight class) and Shane Mitchell (ranked 3991 p4p, 402 weight class). McCarthy comes to the cage accompanied by Chamillionaire - Ridin' ft. Krayzie Bone. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shane Mitchell!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Steve Montenegro and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mitchell shoots in for a takedown but McCarthy shows good takedown defense.
Mitchell thows a leg kick but McCarthy checks it
and McCarthy counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Mitchell is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and McCarthy defends well.
McCarthy wants to stand but Mitchell has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

McCarthy throws a big right hand that misses.

McCarthy has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mitchell is proving hard to escape from.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McCarthy pushes down on Mitchell's leg and manages to get into half guard.
McCarthy is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Mitchell wants to get back to his feet.

McCarthy is trying to work for a kimura but Mitchell is defending well.

Mitchell has hold of McCarthy's hands but McCarthy slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Mitchell has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McCarthy is working away from the top position though.
McCarthy decides to stand up.
McCarthy scores with a one two! Mitchell had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Excellent takedown into side control there by McCarthy.
Mitchell sneaks out the side door and pushes McCarthy away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mitchell tries to sprawl but McCarthy drives through with a takedown into half guard.

McCarthy is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mitchell sees it coming and defends easily.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
McCarthy seems to be looking for submissions.
McCarthy uses his free foot to push down on Mitchell's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Mitchell.
McCarthy stands up from mount. Strange move.
Mitchell tries to clinch
and McCarthy counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
McCarthy escapes and gets back to his feet.
McCarthy fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mitchell sprawls well initially but McCarthy persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
McCarthy stands up from half guard.
McCarthy clinches with his opponent.
McCarthy throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Mitchells head.
McCarthy lands a right hand that snaps the head of Mitchell backwards.

McCarthy gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Mitchell regains guard.
McCarthy works over Mitchell with some ground and pound from guard.
McCarthy gets to his feet. Mitchell looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
McCarthy scores with a head kick.
Mitchell fails to land the takedown.
McCarthy circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Mitchell drops to the canvas, hurt badly! McCarthy follows Mitchell to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!

David McCarthy was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
