PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Latka Gravas (ranked 88 p4p, 13 weight class) and Junkyard Dog (ranked 130 p4p, 20 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gravas bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Dog fails with the takedown. Nice defenses there by Gravas . Dog connects with a looping right hand.
Dog wants to slow Gravas down by chopping away at his legs. Gravas appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Dog lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Gravas feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Dogs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
It looks like Junkyard Dog has been cut. Dog misses with a straight left. Gravas was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Gravas takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Nice defenses there by Gravas . That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Dog crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Gravas - the referee stops the clock and Dog gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Gravas . Dog manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Dog attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. This has been an exciting period of action! A solid body kick from Dog. Dog takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
That's one minute gone in the round. Gravas drops Dog with a beautiful combination! Dog stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Gravas is looking for the KO!
Dog is rocked! Gravas is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Dog flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Dog is out cold! Gravas holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Latka Gravas ! Our winner, Latka Gravas , made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
