PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kaiji Inoue (ranked 2972 p4p, 325 weight class) and James Hackett (ranked 23739 p4p, 553 weight class). Inoue comes to the cage accompanied by Ladies and Gentlemen (Saliva). On his way into the cage it seems that Kaiji Inoue has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Kaiji Inoue seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Kaiji Inoue!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Hackett!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, John Kavanagh and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Inoue throws out a loose jab but Hackett uses good head movement to avoid it.
Hackett defending well as Inoue loads up on a big left hand.

Inoue moves into the clinch.

Hackett manages to break the clinch.
Inoue lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Inoue throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Inoue seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Inoue throws out a loose jab but Hackett uses good head movement to avoid it.
Inoue misses with an uppercut
and Hackett counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Inoue looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Hackett looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Inoue moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Inoue slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Hackett checks a leg kick.
A little jabbing left from Hackett on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Inoue throws a hook to the side of Hackett's head but Hackett sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

It looks like Kaiji Inoue has been cut.

and Hackett connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Hackett moves forwards but Inoue connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Hackett loads up on a big right hand but Inoue slips the punch.

and Hackett cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Hackett throws a hook to the side of Inoue's head but Inoue sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Hackett escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Inoue scores with a sloppy right hand. Hackett should have avoided that one.

Hackett ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Inoue forces Hackett back against the cage and clinches.
Hackett tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Inoue drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Hackett gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Hackett misses with a punch to the body.
Hackett tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Inoue avoids it.

Hackett breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Inoue tries to clinch but Hackett is having none of it.
Hackett throws out a counter right but Inoue avoids it with no problem.
Kaiji Inoue seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hackett needs to keep his hands up - Inoue had a free shot at his head there.
Inoue connects with a looping right hand.
Inoue wants to clinch.

Hackett throws an overhand right that lands on Inoue's shoulder, as Inoue tries to avoid the shot.
Inoue throws a sloppy head kick and Hackett moves out of range easily.
Hackett takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Hackett walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Hackett scores with a jab. Inoue acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Inoue darts in and clinches Hackett up against the cage.
Inoue wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Hackett struggles to land a body shot inside as Inoue controls his hands.

Inoue tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hackett was well out of range. Poor timing from Inoue.
Hackett lands a nice hook to Inoue's body. Inoue takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Inoue goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Inoue fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Nice uppercut there from Inoue.
Inoue wants to clinch up but Hackett keeps it at a distance.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Hackett! But no joy.
Inoue ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Hackett throws a hook but Inoue avoids it easily.
Hackett closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Inoue works over Hackett's head and body with a nice combination.

Inoue clinches up with Hackett and pushes him back against the cage.
Inoue gets through Hackett's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Hackett has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.

James Hackett has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Inoue cracks Hackett with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Inoue decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Hackett pulls Inoue in to control the position.

Hackett has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Inoue can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Inoue avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Hackett is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Hackett escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Inoue gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Kaiji Inoue showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Inoue has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
