Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Diogo Jimenez (ranked 5304 p4p, 256 weight class) and Gemechu McKraken (ranked 6396 p4p, 279 weight class). Jimenez comes to the cage accompanied by Rodrigo Amarante - Tuyo. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Diogo Jimenez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gemechu McKraken! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Ben Hemmingworth and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jimenez checks a leg kick. McKraken clobbers Jimenez with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. McKraken uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Jimenez. McKraken changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. McKraken uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Jimenez. Jimenez lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. McKraken moves out of range as Jimenez strikes. McKraken is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. McKraken misses with a body shot.
Jimenez connects with a body shot. Jimenez scores with a hook to the body. McKraken takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. McKraken throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jimenez works the jab nicely. Jimenez looks to land a left hand but McKraken moved out of range nicely. McKraken misses with a hook
letting Jimenez counter with a right hand. A bone on bone clash there as McKraken blocks the leg kick.

That's one minute gone in the round. McKraken cracks Jimenez with an open hand slap. Jimenez scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McKraken actively working from the bottom here. McKraken looking for submissions off his back. Jimenez is looking for a kimura but McKraken is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jimenez to get the leverage. Jimenez wants to lay and pray for a moment but McKraken keeps working. Jimenez is trying to work for a kimura but McKraken is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jimenez slows the pace down in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McKraken looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Jimenez is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. McKraken doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jimenez. Jimenez is looking for a kimura but McKraken is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jimenez to get the leverage. McKraken is pressing down on Jimenez's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. McKraken had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jimenez defends it easily. McKraken lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jimenez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and McKraken defends well.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Jimenez looking for submissions from the bottom but instead McKraken passes into half guard.
Jimenez is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but McKraken pulls his head out easily. McKraken wants to take a breather but Jimenez is having none of it. McKraken is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jimenez is just riding it out for now. McKraken eventually gives up the hold. Jimenez works his way to full guard. Good work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McKraken postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Jimenez keeping moving, preventing McKraken from controlling successfully. McKraken won't allow Jimenez to sweep him here. McKraken working some strikes from top position. McKraken makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. McKraken throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jimenez works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Jimenez trying to keep a closed guard but McKraken is proving a slippery customer.
McKraken throwing strikes from guard but Jimenez blocks nicely. McKraken passes into half guard. McKraken is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That was a close round but I would say that Diogo Jimenez will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Jimenez shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. McKraken tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Jimenez takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Jimenez throws a body shot but no joy. McKraken needs to keep his hands up - Jimenez had a free shot at his head there. McKraken uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Jimenez. Jimenez scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. McKraken scores with a three punch combo!
Jimenez looking to score a takedown here. McKraken is defending well but Jimenez drives through and ends up in McKraken's guard. McKraken wants to sweep but no luck. Jimenez slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Jimenez trying to control the position from guard on top but McKraken is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! McKraken is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jimenez defends well.

Jimenez looking to sit in guard and control but McKraken gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. McKraken trying to control but Jimenez is working from the bottom. Jimenez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and McKraken defends well. McKraken got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jimenez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McKraken has managed to get both his arms back between Jimenez's legs - danger averted.

McKraken has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Jimenez taking shots to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jimenez is bucking up trying to escape but McKraken cracks him with another couple of good strikes. McKraken jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Jimenez manages to avoid the submission attempt. Jimenez is looking to regain half guard here but McKraken keeps moving and retains side control. Jimenez is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at The Wild Beasts Zoo , so we'll see if he gets out of it. McKraken connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Jimenez some visible discomfort.
Jimenez tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but McKraken wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Gemechu McKraken has got the better of the ground game so far. Check out the look on McKraken's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

McKraken is pushing down on Jimenez's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jimenez is fighting to maintain full guard but McKraken has managed to sneak the leg through. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! McKraken takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Jimenez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. McKraken is trying to work for a kimura but Jimenez is defending well.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. McKraken lands a nice short elbow. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Jimenez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. McKraken is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Jimenez sees it coming and defends easily.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Diogo Jimenez. I think Jimenez has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
