Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Baeddan MacAuliffe (ranked 1910 p4p, 222 weight class) and Joan Vila (ranked 1690 p4p, 199 weight class). MacAuliffe comes to the ring accompanied by Notorious by Duran Duran. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vila motions for MacAuliffe to come forward. Vila throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

We've been hearing reports that MacAuliffe has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
MacAuliffe avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

MacAuliffe scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Vila works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

MacAuliffe steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Vila. That one must have hurt.

Vila gets caught napping as MacAuliffe dives in and scores a takedown. Vila manages to retain guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Vila wants to stand but MacAuliffe is controlling the position.

MacAuliffe wants to control from the top but Vila keeps moving.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Vila wants to get back to his feet but MacAuliffe is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Vila is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

MacAuliffe closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
MacAuliffe wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vila keeps working.
Vila is pushing MacAuliffe's head away, looking to escape. MacAuliffe manages to hold on to the position though.

MacAuliffe thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

MacAuliffe is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Vila is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Vila is pushing MacAuliffe's head away, looking to escape. MacAuliffe manages to hold on to the position though.

MacAuliffe is trying to get an arm triangle but Vila is defending well.
Vila is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the ropes but MacAuliffe has just dragged him back down to the mat.

MacAuliffe wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Vila, who protects the arm well.

MacAuliffe shoots in looking for a takedown. Vila tries to sprawl out of it but MacAuliffe keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Vila manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
MacAuliffe throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
MacAuliffe throws a nice looking combination but Vila bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Vila connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

MacAuliffe shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Baeddan MacAuliffe is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

MacAuliffe misses the shot to the body.
MacAuliffe lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Vila circles away quickly and effectively.
