Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nelson Quinteros (ranked 565 p4p, 80 weight class) and Boris Matusov (ranked 516 p4p, 74 weight class). The key to victory for Nelson Quinteros has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nelson Quinteros! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Boris Matusov! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Quinteros tries to close the distance and clinch up but Matusov swats him away and circles back towards the center. Excellent takedown into side control there by Matusov. Matusov wants to control but Quinteros is keeping him busy. Quinteros tries to improve position but can't. Matusov looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Quinteros manages to get back to half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Matusov content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Matusov wants to pass the guard but Quinteros is defending well. Quinteros has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Matusov is working away from the top position though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Matusov is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Quinteros has managed to free his arm - good work. Quinteros wants to improve his position but Matusov is controlling well.

Matusov is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Quinteros sees it coming and defends easily. Quinteros has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Quinteros trying to hold on to Matusov's head to control him but Matusov postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Quinteros tries to roll over but Matusov keeps him under control. Matusov is trying to control. Quinteros wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Matusov is looking for a kimura here.
Quinteros is looking for a sweep. Matusov is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Quinteros keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Matusov seems to be working for a kimura but Quinteros defends the submission attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Matusov seems to be looking for submissions.
Matusov uses his free foot to push down on Quinteros's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Quinteros. Matusov moves to back control. Matusov looking for the choke but no joy. Matusov working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. Quinteros is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Matusov gets his way!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Matusov is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Quinteros defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Quinteros tries to escape the position.
Matusov is persistently looking for the submission but Quinteros is defending it well.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Quinteros is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Matusov is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Boris Matusov dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Matusov. Matusov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Quinteros's waist but Quinteros gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Matusov off to one side. Quinteros is looking for a counter combo. Matusov has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Matusov has his takedown stuffed and Quinteros counters with a lovely straight right hand! Nelson Quinteros has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Boris Matusov. Quinteros waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Matusov. Matusov tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Quinteros defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Matusov. Quinteros stuns Matusov with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Matusov misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Matusov shoots in for a takedown but Quinteros shows good takedown defense. Matusov gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Quinteros cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Matusov tries for a takedown but Quinteros sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Quinteros lands a right hook to the body.
Matusov is breathing heavily. Quinteros looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Matusov tries for a takedown but Quinteros circles away easily and Quinteros counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
That's one minute gone in the round. Matusov fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Quinteros has Matusov up against the cage in a clinch.
Still in the clinch, Quinteros scores with a nice short uppercut. Quinteros escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Quinteros thows a left - swing and a miss! Nelson Quinteros is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Quinteros misses with a looping right. Matusov takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Quinteros swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Quinteros connects with a nice looking jab.
Matusov is rocked! Quinteros throws a series of punches but Matusov moves out of range. Nelson Quinteros is winning the standup battle so far. Quinteros displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Matusov. Matusov shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Quinteros as he jumps to the side. Matusov drives through with a takedown into guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Matusov passes into half guard. Matusov is keen to just control but Quinteros is a slippery customer. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Quinteros is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Matusov's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Matusov's back! Boris Matusov has got the better of the ground game so far. Quinteros is hanging on to Matusov's back as he tries to escape.
Quinteros controls the action. Quinteros keeps control of the position as Matusov tries to break free.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Quinteros has the hooks in. Matusov is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Matusov keeps trying to improve his position. Matusov turns into Quinteros and is now in his guard.
Matusov slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Quinteros bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Matusov's guard. Matusov keeping full guard, as Quinteros tries to pass. Quinteros has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Quinteros trying to control but Matusov is working from the bottom. Matusov throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Quinteros escapes and throws Matusov's legs to the side, diving into side control!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Quinteros wants to stand but Matusov has his arm trapped. Matusov is looking to reverse the position. Matusov is not content to let Quinteros control the position. Matusov is trying to work for a sweep but Quinteros has mounted him! Quinteros punishing his opponent with strikes. Matusov is looking to improve his position but Quinteros isn't that keen on the idea. Matusov wants to control but Quinteros is having none of it. Quinteros swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Quinteros fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Matusov is defended easily by Quinteros. Quinteros seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
That's one minute gone in the round. Matusov with a poor takedown and Quinteros counters with a left and a right... and another left... and another!! That last one turned off the lights! Matusov has no idea who he is and is as he gazes up at the spotlights. Brutal knockout!
