Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lakoj Dresden (ranked 1155 p4p, 153 weight class) and Spencer Rubenstein (ranked 705 p4p, 98 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lakoj Dresden! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Spencer Rubenstein! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Phil Schofield and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dresden tries to close the distance and clinch but Rubenstein swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Dresden dives in and grabs Rubenstein's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rubenstein pushes down on Dresden's head and hops out. Nice takedown defense from Rubenstein. No joy for Dresden on that attempt. Rubenstein smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. A looping hook to the body misses from Rubenstein. Dresden does a little dance to reset his feet. Dresden looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Dresden bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Rubenstein ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. A nice inside leg kick there by Rubenstein. That's going to slow Dresden down. Dresden takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Rubenstein scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Rubenstein fails with an attempt to clinch.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Dresden lands a nice hook to Rubenstein's body. Rubenstein takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Dresden throws a body shot but no joy. Spencer Rubenstein seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rubenstein slaps away a takedown attempt from Dresden, before circling back to the center of the mat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lakoj Dresden. That's going to take a lot out of him. Dresden ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Dresden darts in looking for a takedown but Rubenstein gets double underhooks and turns Dresden into the cage. This has been an exciting period of action! Dresden moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Nice cross by Rubenstein. Rubenstein scores with a jab. Rubenstein is looking to land body kicks.

Rubenstein quickly recovers to half guard. Rubenstein wants to get back to full guard. Dresden is looking to advance position but Rubenstein won't allow it. Dresden not landing any meaningful shots this time. Rubenstein wants to control but Dresden passes into side.
Rubenstein is looking to reverse the position. Dresden is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Rubenstein's shoulder. That is not cool. Rubenstein tries to improve position but can't. Rubenstein is still trying to improve position. Rubenstein is being controlled here. You can see the frustration on Rubenstein's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rubenstein takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Dresden is staying tight to Rubenstein's torso, preventing him from escaping. Rubenstein tries to escape but Dresden is in control. Rubenstein is trying to improve his position. Rubenstein is trying to control Dresden's posture but Dresden avoids it. Rubenstein gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Rubenstein wants to control but Dresden is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rubenstein is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Dresden lands a big elbow. Rubenstein is in all sorts of trouble here.
Rubenstein tries to buck Dresden off but he can't manage it. Dresden trying to control but Rubenstein is having none of it. Dresden postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Rubenstein looks a forlorn figure.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Rubenstein slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Dresden looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Rubenstein trying to control but Dresden postures up.

Dresden seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Dresden looks to score some points with some ground and pound. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Dresden lands a nice short elbow. Rubenstein wants to control but Dresden is keeping busy and won't allow it. Dresden prevents Rubenstein from improving his position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Spencer Rubenstein will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Rubenstein throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. A decent looking body kick lands there for Rubenstein. Dresden fails to land the takedown. Dresden throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rubenstein's waist but Rubenstein gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dresden off to one side. Rubenstein scores with a jab. Dresden acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Rubenstein circles away from the clinch attempt.
Dresden ducks under a wild hook from Rubenstein. Rubenstein has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Dresden tries to clinch there but Rubenstein circles away.

Rubenstein looks to throw the jab but Dresden is out of range. Rubenstein catches Dresden with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dresden shoots in looking for a takedown but Rubenstein manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Dresden's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Dresden fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rubenstein avoids it really well and circles away. Rubenstein sizes up Dresden with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dresden fails to land the takedown. Rubenstein tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Dresden takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Dresden shoots in looking for a takedown but Rubenstein manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Dresden's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Dresden fails with a takedown attempt. Dresden misses with a straight right. Rubenstein works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Nice uppercut lands for Rubenstein. That snapped Dresden's head back.
Rubenstein has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Rubenstein cracks a nice hook into Dresden's ribs. Rubenstein connects with a looping right hand.

Rubenstein lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Rubenstein has a couple of punches blocked by Dresden.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rubenstein doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Dresden wants a takedown.
Dresden manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Rubenstein must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Dresden doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Rubenstein connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Dresden closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Dresden lands in his opponent's guard. Rubenstein wriggles free and stands up. Rubenstein defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Dresden. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Rubenstein stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rubenstein wants it to stay on the feet. Rubenstein pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Dresden takes one on the button. Dresden uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Rubenstein. Dresden takes a swing at Rubenstein's ribcage but misses.

Lakoj Dresden overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Dresden lands with some strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Spencer Rubenstein showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Rubenstein has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Dresden is proving hard to escape from. Rubenstein passes into half guard. Dresden is looking for a sweep. Rubenstein is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Lakoj Dresden has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Rubenstein wants to get up but he can't break Dresden's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Rubenstein stands up from guard. Let's bang! Rubenstein misses with a hook

Rubenstein stuns Dresden with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Dresden has a takedown stuffed. Dresden is looking to wear down Rubenstein with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. The fight moves into the clinch position. Dresden fails to pull the fight into his guard.
