The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mayers closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gorgrip did well to prevent Mayers getting side control.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Mayers working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Gorgrip is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Mayers scores with a couple of nice shots.

Mayers really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gorgrip. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Mayers lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Gorgrip quite badly. Gorgrip pulls Mayers in close trying to recover. Mayers postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Gorgrip on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Gorgrip doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
