Nilsen is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Lil Wayne - Right above it. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Spencer Rubenstein!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Yacob Nilsen!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rubenstein tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Nilsen was well out of range. Poor timing from Rubenstein.
Rubenstein walks into a stiff left hand from Nilsen.
Rubenstein has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Nice defenses there by Rubenstein.
Rubenstein swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Rubenstein uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Nilsen.
Nilsen misses with a looping left.
Nilsen throws an off balance right hand
and Rubenstein counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Rubenstein drops Nilsen with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Nilsen looks back up at him and smiles so Rubenstein waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nilsen connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Rubenstein's hands.
Yacob Nilsen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nilsen looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Rubenstein slips a jab and a cross from Nilsen.
Nilsen throws a lazy head kick
and Rubenstein connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
A big left from Nilsen misses.
An attempted straight right counter from Rubenstein misses the target.

Nilsen throws a right hand that Rubenstein ducks under and follows up with a left that Rubenstein also avoids with ease.
Nilsen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Rubenstein scores with a nice strike.
Nilsen throws a looping overhand right but Rubenstein ducks down to avoid it.
Rubenstein thinks about countering with a head kick.
Nilsen ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Nilsen feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Rubensteins jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Nilsen moves away from the strike by Rubenstein.
Nilsen throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
An attempted straight right counter from Rubenstein misses the target.
Nilsen listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Rubenstein ducks under a wild hook from Nilsen.

Rubenstein lands a big head kick that sends Nilsen tumbling to the mat! Rubenstein takes a step backwards and waves Nilsen back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Yacob Nilsen has been cut.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nilsen might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Nilsen misses the shot to the body.
Nilsen tries to bum rush Rubenstein with a series of wild strikes but Rubenstein uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Nilsen has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Rubenstein.
Rubenstein throws a lazy head kick
and Nilsen counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Nilsen bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Nilsen cracks Rubenstein with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Nilsen has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Rubenstein to stand back up!


Rubenstein is rocked!
Nilsen lunges in with a left hook that violently twists Rubenstein head around and knocks him out cold! Nilsen hops onto the cage and yells out at the top of his lungs - Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaah! They're showing the replay on the big screens now; that was nasty! I hope one of the photographers got a good shot of it.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Yacob Nilsen!
Yacob Nilsen seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
