Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Buddy Barnett (ranked 1060 p4p, 156 weight class) and Long Hung Dong (ranked 1859 p4p, 239 weight class). Barnett kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Move. Long Hung Dong has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Buddy Barnett's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 3 - 1, fighting out of New York, Buddy Barnett! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Long Hung Dong! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A swing and a miss from Barnett. Dong throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Barnett sees it coming and avoids it easily. Dong throws a body kick that misses and Barnett counters with a single leg into guard. Dong didn't expect that. Barnett cracks Dong with a solid left hand. Dong avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Barnett is looking to work some ground and pound but Dong has wrist control. Barnett lands a couple of decent looking shots. Dong being controlled here, momentarily. Barnett is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Midnight MMA that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet. Barnett has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Barnett is looking to work some ground and pound but Dong has wrist control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dong keeping full guard, as Barnett tries to pass. Barnett throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dong works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Barnett throws a big elbow that misses.

Dong preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Barnett in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Barnett throws a strike but Dong rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Barnett looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dong is one step ahead there. Barnett is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Barnett working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dong doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dong manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Barnett has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Barnett is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Barnett is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Barnett is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Dong is aware though and is defending well. Barnett looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Dong throws an overhand right that lands on Barnett's shoulder, as Barnett tries to avoid the shot. Barnett moves out of range of the body kick from Dong.
Dong drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. A swing and a miss from Barnett. Barnett pushes Dong up against the ropes in a clinch. Barnett jumps guard but Dong stands there with Barnett around his waist. Barnett gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Barnett has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Dong avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Barnett manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Barnett might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Barnett escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dong gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Barnett is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Barnett tries to clinch but Dong is having none of it. Dong clobbers Barnett with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Barnett throws out a loose jab but Dong uses good head movement to avoid it. Dong moves away from the strike by Barnett. Dong flicks out a counter leg kick but Barnett steps away. Dong swats away the attempt to clinch by Barnett. Dong gets caught napping as Barnett dives in and scores a takedown. Dong manages to retain guard. Barnett scoring with punches to the head and body. Barnett postures up in Dong's guard and throws a big left but Dong blocks it. Barnett is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Dong can do to turn this around? Barnett wants to control from the top but Dong keeps moving. Barnett in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Barnett chips away with some ground and pound. Barnett wants to control from the top but Dong keeps moving. Barnett looking to sit in guard and control but Dong gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Dong must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Barnett looking for a guillotine here but Dong defends easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barnett controls Dong momentarily but Dong frees himself. Dong slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Dong trying to control but Barnett is working from the bottom. Dong stopping the sweep attempt from Barnett. Barnett keeping full guard, as Dong tries to pass. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Barnett looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dong is one step ahead there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barnett wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Dong is now in half guard. Barnett has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Dong is working away from the top position though. Barnett tries to get to full guard but Dong has control of the leg. Barnett is looking to control Dong's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Barnett avoid being mounted?
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Barnett wants to improve his position but Dong is controlling well.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Barnett is looking to clinch. Dong swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Barnett shoots for a double leg takedown but Dong sprawls well. He's pushed Barnett's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Barnett closes the distance and clinches. Dong tries to work over Barnett's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Barnett jumps guard but Dong turns him against the ropes and keeps the fight standing. Dong lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Dong lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Dong tries a body shot but Barnett blocks it.

That was a close second round but I would say that Buddy Barnett will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!
Barnett moves in looking to clinch but Dong pushes him off. Dong throws out a counter right but Barnett avoids it with no problem. Barnett misses with an uppercut. Dong throws a leg kick which misses Barnett's front leg but catches the back leg as Barnett tries to avoid it. Barnett forces Dong back against the ropes and clinches. Dong pulls guard. Barnett slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Barnett working the body and head with strikes. Barnett fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Barnett tries for a kimura but Dong is defending well. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dong can't do much from the bottom here. Dong tries to get back to half guard but can't. Buddy Barnett overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sloppy strikes there by Barnett. Barnett in side control, throwing shots but Dong defends. Barnett grinds an elbow into Dong's temple. Barnett is chipping away with strikes.

Barnett is looking to take a break and control but Dong is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Dong preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Barnett with the ground and pound but Dong uses the opportunity to regain guard. Barnett missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barnett pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Dong is keeping the position for now. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Barnett loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Buddy Barnett seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dong dodges the punch combination from Barnett.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barnett uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Barnett is looking to clinch but Dong is avoiding it.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Dong feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Barnett's calf. Barnett tries to clinch but Dong is having none of it. Barnett wants to clinch up but Dong keeps it at a distance.
And that's the end of the fight! Buddy Barnett showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Barnett, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
