Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dylan Peterson (ranked 921 p4p, 139 weight class) and Bo Nickal (ranked 935 p4p, 142 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dylan Peterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bo Nickal!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peterson jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Nickal misses the shot to the body.
A chopping leg kick lands by Nickal.
Peterson throws a chopping leg kick but Nickal manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Nickal is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Peterson walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Nickal checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Peterson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Peterson fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Nickal on the side of the head.
Peterson bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Peterson throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Nickal sees it coming and avoids it easily.
And Nickal tries to counter it with a takedown but Peterson pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Peterson misses with a wild body shot.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Nickal has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nickal uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Peterson.

and Nickal counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Nickal.
Nickal is standing up over Peterson. Peterson looks to escape but Nickal dives into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Nickal is chipping away with strikes.
Peterson manages to work his way to half guard, despite Nickal's best efforts.
Peterson is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Nickal scores with a couple of nice shots.
Nickal takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Peterson is looking for a sweep. Nickal is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Nickal moves into full mount! Peterson won't be happy about that!
Peterson is wriggling around trying to escape.

Peterson is looking for a sweep. Nickal is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Nickal is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Peterson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Nickal.

Nickal lands with a punch from half guard.
Peterson wants to get back to full guard.
Nickal landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Nickal wants to work for an arm triangle but Peterson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Peterson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Nickal manages to get himself to full guard.

Peterson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Nickal working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Peterson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Peterson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Peterson's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Peterson looking to pass the guard.
Nickal lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Nickal wants to control from the top but Peterson keeps moving.
Peterson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Nickal pushes down on Peterson's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Nickal is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Peterson is looking for a sweep. Nickal is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Nickal seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Peterson wants to improve his position but Nickal is controlling well.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Nickal lands a nice short elbow.

Peterson is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Nickal has latched onto it... Big trouble! Nickal pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Peterson is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Nickal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 8:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Bo Nickal!
An out of breath Bo Nickal thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
