Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim Jones Jr (ranked 1139 p4p, 164 weight class) and Matt Askren (ranked 412 p4p, 64 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Jones Jr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 1, fighting out of London, Matt Askren! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones Jr scores with a jab to the body. Askren looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jones Jr is fending him off so far but Askren persists. Nope, Jones Jr circles away and we're back to standing. Askren cracks Jones Jr with a good jab. Jones Jr waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Askren. Askren has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Askren there as he acknowledges the shot. Askren misses with a takedown enabling Jones Jr to counter with a crisp jab. Askren misses with a right hand and Jones Jr counters with a right hand to the body. Jones Jr moves away from the strike by Askren. Jones Jr darts in and out, connecting with a jab. A swing and a miss from Jones Jr. Askren swats away the attempt to clinch by Jones Jr. Askren drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Jones Jr defends it well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Askren misses with a wild body shot. Askren uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jones Jr.
Askren shoots in for a takedown but Jones Jr shows good takedown defense. Jim Jones Jr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Askren. Askren will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Askren has taken the fight to the clinch.

Nice shot lands for Askren. Askren keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Jones Jr. Askren tries to clinch up. Jones Jr swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Jones Jr misses with a hook.

and Askren counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Jones Jr! Jones Jr regains half guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jones Jr looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Askren lands with a punch from half guard. Jones Jr on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Askren drops an elbow to the side of Jones Jr's head. Jones Jr on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Askren prevents Jones Jr from improving his position. Jones Jr moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Jones Jr escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Askren gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Jones Jr has momentary wrist control but Askren slips an elbow through the middle. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Askren avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Askren working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Jones Jr's head. Jones Jr is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Jones Jr has his foot on Askren's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Askren works his way back into a safe position though. Askren scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Askren stopping the sweep attempt from Jones Jr. Askren wants to pass the guard but Jones Jr is keeping the position. Askren passes easily into side control. Nice work. Jones Jr sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Askren connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Jones Jr some visible discomfort.
Askren is looking to take a break and control but Jones Jr is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Askren grinds an elbow into Jones Jr's temple. Askren working away. Askren wants to control but Jones Jr is keeping him busy. Jones Jr tries to get back to half guard but can't. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jones Jr scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Askren jabs at Jones Jr's body. Jones Jr throws a body punch but Askren moves out of range. Askren with the counter takedown but Jones Jr avoids it easily. Askren swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Jones Jr. Askren fails with the takedown. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones Jr lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Jones Jr takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Jones Jr throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Askren sees it coming and avoids it easily. A low kick from Askren is predictable there and Jones Jr counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Jones Jr with the ground and pound but Askren uses the opportunity to regain guard. Askren has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Askren looking for a sweep. Not yet Askren, not yet. Askren doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Jones Jr works over Askren with some ground and pound from guard. Jones Jr tries to free his leg and advance position but Askren is retaining full guard. Jones Jr trying to control but Askren is working from the bottom. Jones Jr landing with the ground and pound. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Jones Jr trying to control the position from guard on top but Askren is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jones Jr postures up in Askren's guard and throws a big left but Askren blocks it.

Jones Jr throws an elbow that misses. Askren uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jones Jr's guard. Nice move by Askren!

Jones Jr throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Askren escapes and throws Jones Jr's legs to the side, diving into side control! Askren landing strikes. Jones Jr can't do much from the bottom here. Askren trying to control the position but Jones Jr is working away. Askren working the head with strikes. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Jones Jr gets back to half guard. Askren scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Jones Jr is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Jim Jones Jr will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Askren moves away from the strike by Jones Jr. Jones Jr is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Askren. Jones Jr wants to clinch but Askren slips to the side and Askren counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Jones Jr has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Askren can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Jones Jr is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Askren is aware though and is defending well. Jim Jones Jr has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones Jr isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Askren stacks Jones Jr on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Askren! Jones Jr is looking to reverse the position. Askren creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Jones Jr takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Jones Jr taking punishment in the form of punches.
Jones Jr is looking for a sweep. Jones Jr strikes from the bottom. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Askren wants to control but Jones Jr is keeping him busy. Jones Jr tries to buck Askren off but Askren is having none of it.
And that's the end of the fight! Matt Askren comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Askren has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
