PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hero Galanos (ranked 866 p4p, 129 weight class) and Alejandro Scott (ranked 1579 p4p, 204 weight class). Galanos comes to the ring accompanied by oh boy, he's walking out in gladiator trunks. Scott has chosen Alejandro - Lady Gaga as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hero Galanos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Alejandro Scott!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shigeki Sano and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Galanos throws an off balance right hand

and Scott decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Galanos's guard.

Galanos working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Scott doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Scott manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

We've been hearing good reports from Galanos's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Galanos is working for a kimura but Scott is defending it quite comfortably.

Scott feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Scott goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Galanos has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Scott but great work by Galanos.

Scott felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Hero Galanos overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Galanos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Scott swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Galanos tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Scott is able to avoid easily.
Galanos throws out a loose jab but Scott uses good head movement to avoid it.
Scott throws a hook but Galanos blocks it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Galanos. Scott does a little dance to reset his feet.

Galanos connects with a solid leg kick.
Scott throws a body shot but no joy.
Galanos misses with a straight left.
Scott lands with a slapping head kick.
Galanos throws an overhand right that lands on Scott's shoulder, as Scott tries to avoid the shot.
Scott closes this distance looking for a takedown but Galanos circles away.
Scott throws a head kick that misses.
A slow jab from Galanos misses its intended target.
Scott changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Galanos tries to avoid it but Scott manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Galanos to the ground. Galanos escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Hero Galanos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alejandro Scott.

Scott shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Scott was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Galanos swings for the body but Scott moves out of range.

Scott shoots in looking for a takedown. Galanos tries to sprawl out of it but Scott keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Galanos manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Galanos throws a body punch but Scott moves out of range.
Scott missing with a left hand there. Galanos was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Scott's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Galanos connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Scott scrambles back to his feet.

Galanos leaves his chin hanging out and Scott seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Galanos crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
