Born in the Coque, one of the biggest Refice's Slums. Leonel was the son of a teacher, that was a revolutionary, that teched the community who to read and write, having their own discernment. He was killed in front of Leonel at a young age. His mother and him, had to flee to Bahia, where Leonel find boxing a way to grief, and also by his mother's request he did some judo, the favorite martial art of his father, who said that judo as the foundation of his discipline.
