Now back to the preview of OFC 15.
First Fight of the Night: 265+ lbs. Norris (3-3, 2 KOs) vs. Ward (1-2, KO)
Both fighters are good in the stand up game, Norris has 2 KO's, and Ward has 1 KO. Norris lost by 2 Subs and 1 KO. Ward has only lost by Sub and decision. Ward my have a better chin and is heavy handed. Norris is an intelligent fighter and has knockout power. What a match up this is going to be, both fighters have power. So it will come down to Norris' smarts vs Ward's chin.
Second Fight of the Night: 265+ lbs. James (5-3, 2 KO's) vs. Mendez (6-8, 6 Subs)
Coming of their last fight, both fighters were victorious. It looks like James has more training than Mendez, but Mendez has more fights and experience in fighting. Every win by Mendez was by submission if he gets his opponent on the ground, the chances are that Mendez will submit his opponents. James does have KO power and by the looks of things if James could keep this one off the ground, then he may have a chance to beat Mendez. However Mendez is a determined fighter. Wow, James' KO power vs. Mendez's sub mastery and determinedness. This one is going to a fight.
Third Fight of the Night: 265+ lbs. Ramos (7-2-2, 4 KO's) vs. Dragun (3-3, 1 Sub)
Ramos seems to be better in the stand up game, and it seems to be even in the ground game. Each fighter coming of a lost from their last fight. Let's see who turns this around. Ramos shows some ko power by have 4 KO'S out of his 7 wins. If Dragun could score some take downs he maybe prevail, due to the edge of his BJJ skills. However, Ramos has better wrestling, so this fight will come down to who controls to takedowns and the ground.
Fourth Fight of the Night: 265+ lbs. Cordova (6-5, 5 KO's) vs Vatin (6-5, 1 Sub)
Whoa, identical win and lose records. The only difference is that Cordova displays KO power, by 5 out of 6 wins coming in the way of knockout. Wow what a heavy hitter he must be. Vatin has lost 3 times by the way of knockout, and he has only 1 sub victory out of 6 wins. Vatin has proven that he could go the distance, but would he be able to handle Cordova's KO power? Both fighters are stand up figthers, maybe Vatin may want to change it up though. Who ever controls the distance and the clinch will be the victor.
Fifth Fight of the Night: 265+ lbs. Daniels (11-1, 1 KO) vs Kalashnikov (1-4)
Daniels has more experience than Kalashnikov. Daniels also only lost once by decision. Kalashnikov has went the distance all five of is fights but only was victorious one time. Both fighters don't seem to have any KO power, so this one more than likely be left up to the judges who will win.
Sixth Fight of the Night: 265+lbs. Ivanov (3-0, 2 KO's) vs Austin (6-4, 3 Subs)
Ivanov has KO power, 2 out of his 3 victories was by the way of knockout. He is going to want to keep this fight off the ground, and exploit his stand up skills. Austin has 3 subs under his belt, and he is looking to take this one to the ground. Austin has superior skils on the ground, and Ivanov has superior skills in the stand up. Who ever controls the takedowns will be determined the victor, becuase Austin has a 50% sub/win ratio. Just hope Austin could defend the stand up strikes from Ivanov cause if not this will be a short fight.
Seventh Fight of the NIght: 265+lbs. Pierre (10-5, 8 Subs) vs Yazerman (7-7, 1 KO)
Both fighters look like they are ground fighters, but Pierre is a sub artist while Yazerman is GNP. Pierre has sub 8 of his opponents out of 10 victories, nice ratio. Yazerman only has one KO out of seven wins. He definitely could go the distance, but can Pierre get a sub on them. This is a chess match, Yazerman might want the top ground position but that plays in the hands of Pierre due to his BJJ skills. Who ever is in better conditioned fighter will become victorious.
Eighth Fight of the Night: 265+lbs. Markov (3-3, 1 NC, 1 KO) vs Rizzo (6-1, 3 KO, 3 Subs)
Markov has better skills in the stand up, but not by much. Wow Rizzo has won either by KO or sub, he has a rounded ground game. He could either ground and pound his opponenet, or he could submit his opponent. Pick your poision from Rizzo. If Rizzo gets Markov on the ground, Markov might not make it out. Hope Markov trained hard for this figth, cause Rizzo has a rounded out ground game.
Ninth Fight of the Night: 265+lbs. Kalas (17-11, 3 KOs, 13 Subs) vs Rautavaara (12-14, 2 KOs, 2 Subs)
Both fighters are very even in the stand up game, but by a hair Kalas is a better. So close that you could feel the heat. Wow the ground game is also even, by Rautavaara is given the edge by a hair. Wow this is going to be a very good even fight. Both could go the distance, but Kalas has more submissions victories. This will come down to who is more conditioned, and I have to give the edge to Kalas for his experience.
Main Event: 265+ lbs. Cartman (8-4, 4 KOs) vs Wayne (8-0, 8 KOs)
The main event is also a fairly even match up. Both fighers are close on the stand up game. Wayne has KO power, all he has not lost yet and all his victories come by a way of knockout, and has a slight edge over Cartman in the stand up game. Cartman has a slight edge in the ground game, so I assume that he will want this fight on the ground. By Cartman taking this fight to the ground, it does two things. One keeps Wayne from using his deadly ko power in the stand up, and keeps Wayne off his game. The chances that Wayne being knockout is slim to none. Cartman need a big punch or keep Wayne off his feet.
Until next time enjoy the event, and best of luck to all fighters. |
