Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 33 - 16 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kagekatsu Uesugi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Roberto Soldic! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Sano and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Uesugi moves into range and clinches up with Soldic. Soldic lands with a light punch inside. Soldic struggles to land a body shot inside as Uesugi controls his hands.
Uesugi drops down looking for an ankle pick but Soldic pulls his leg out and moves away.
Soldic scores with a nice strike. Soldic throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Soldic misses with a hook. Uesugi ducked under it nicely. A nice leg kick lands there from Soldic. Soldic fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Uesugi gets a takedown into half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Soldic wants to get back to full guard. Soldic must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Soldic's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Uesugi controls Soldic momentarily but Soldic frees himself. Uesugi wants to sweep here but Soldic controlling him for the moment. Uesugi has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Uesugi looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Uesugi keeping moving, preventing Soldic from controlling successfully. Uesugi lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Uesugi drops back, looking for a kneebar! Soldic looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Soldic looks to have wriggled free... That's three minutes gone in the round. Uesugi is not content to let Soldic control the position. Uesugi is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Soldic is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Uesugi has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Soldic's lack of action.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Uesugi is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Soldic pulls his head out easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Soldic seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Uesugi does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Soldic slows the pace down in half guard. Uesugi gets full guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Soldic postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Soldic stays in close to Uesugi's body and controls the position. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

and Shima counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Ben Slam's cut is getting worse. Shima lands a big uppercut and Slam crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Slam looks OK. Shima waves Slam back to his feet! Slam is rocked!
