The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Savage throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. DeBlunt was covering up waiting for the punch and Savage finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Savage scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
DeBlunt could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Savage slips nicely into half guard.
Savage scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Savage keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
DeBlunt wants to improve his position but Savage is controlling well.
Savage landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Savage is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
DeBlunt is looking to improve his position.
DeBlunt is working hard here to advance position.
Savage lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Savage is nestled in close to DeBlunt, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
It looks like Phil DeBlunt has been cut.
DeBlunt has a hand on Savage's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Savage takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Savage postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. DeBlunt looks a forlorn figure.
DeBlunt knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Savage on the ground.
Savage fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Savage landing punches.
Phil DeBlunt's cut is getting worse.
DeBlunt sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
DeBlunt is looking for a sweep. Savage is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Savage lands a nice short elbow.

Savage is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
DeBlunt tries to roll over but Savage keeps him under control.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Savage drops an elbow to the side of DeBlunt's head.
DeBlunt is rocked!
Jeez, Phil DeBlunt's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Phil DeBlunt's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
