That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Gaizka Elizondo.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Leon Bowser.

Coming up we have a middleweight kickboxing rules bout between Ichigho Kurosaki (ranked 24248 p4p, 890 weight class) and Kenny Smith (ranked 541 p4p, 107 weight class). Smith has chosen IS THIS LOVE as his entrance music. Kenny Smith told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ichigho Kurosaki!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kenny Smith!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The crowd cheers as Smith lands an impressive looking overhand right. Kurosaki doesn't seem phased though.
Smith showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kurosaki.
Smith goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Smith has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Smith throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Smith scores with a nice right hand.
Smith looks to land a body kick but Kurosaki moved away.
Smith throws a half hearted mid kick.
Smith pivots, looking for a leg kick but Kurosaki is out of range and Smith settles back down.
Smith connects with an inside leg kick.

Smith lands a glancing blow to the side of Kurosaki's head.
Smith stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Kurosaki has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Smith.
Smith throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Smith lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Kurosaki has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Kurosaki and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Kurosaki throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Smith tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Kurosaki is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Smith misses with a body punch.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Kurosaki escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Kurosaki gets tackled into the ropes by Smith. Smith maintains the clinch.
Smith lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the ropes.

Smith tries a body shot but Kurosaki blocks it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Smith lands a shot to the body.
Kurosaki wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Smith has him pressed against the ropes.
Kurosaki doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Smith looking to slow down the pace here.
Smith is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the ropes.
Kurosaki has a couple of punches blocked by Smith.
Smith blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Kurosaki's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Smith lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kurosaki circles away quickly and effectively.
Kurosaki misses with a looping left.
Kurosaki looks to land a left hand but Smith moved out of range nicely.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kenny Smith dominated that round.
That's time! Kurosaki's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Smith attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Smith - that will leave a mark!
Smith moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Both fighters circling a little - Smith finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Kurosaki lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Smith connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Kurosaki is rocked!
Kenny Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kurosaki glances at the clock... BAM! Smith nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Kurosaki crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Kurosaki is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Kenny Smith!
Kenny Smith is the new middleweight champion!
After winning the bout, Kenny Smith thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
