The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Claude fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Cardoso has closed the distance and engaged Claude in a clinch.

Claude shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Claude was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Schmidt doesn't manage to clinch there - Mferi circles away.
Schmidt looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mferi is fending him off so far but Schmidt persists. Nope, Mferi circles away and we're back to standing.
Schmidt moves forwards but Mferi connects with a nice, crisp jab.
It looks like Xavier Schmidt has been cut.
Schmidt goes for a double leg but Mferi avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Mferi continues to drive forward.
Mferi connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Schmidt is rocked!
Mferi lands an uppercut, right on the button! Schmidt tumbles backwards into the cage, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.
