Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Serta Mierta! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Ji Soo Shin! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Richard Clark and Paul Tew.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mierta misses with a low kick as Shin jumps back. Mierta throws a quick inside leg kick. Mierta cracks Shin with a right hand to the side of the head. A chopping leg kick lands by Shin. Shin throws out a leg kick but Mierta moves out of range and Shin only half commits. Mierta takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Shin misses with a body shot.
Mierta is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Mierta jabs Shin right on the nose. Shin blinks but takes it well. A low kick lands for Shin.
Shin fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Mierta looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Shin lands a jab. Mierta on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Shin misses the jab. Mierta throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Donk. Shin catches Mierta right on the button with a cross. Shin throws a leg kick that is checked and Mierta connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Shin fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Mierta checks it well.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Shin punishes Mierta's body with a nice straight punch. Shin throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Ji Soo Shin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Shin throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mierta throws a shot from downtown. Shin moves away and avoids it. Good work by Mierta as he checks the leg kick. Mierta slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Shin thumps Mierta with a low kick. Shin connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. A nice inside leg kick there by Shin. That's going to slow Mierta down. Mierta looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Shin misses with a leg kick. Mierta looks to land a body kick but Shin moved away. Shin fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Mierta checks it well. Shin throws a solid leg kick but Mierta takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Shin. Mierta tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Shin paws at him with a jab and circles away. Mierta misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Shin.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. Nice takedown defense from Shin. No joy for Mierta on that attempt. Shin tries a quick counter leg kick but Mierta is wise to it. Shin goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Mierta was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Shin wants to slow Mierta down by chopping away at his legs. It looked like Mierta wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Shin throws a jab when Mierta was well out of range. Nice body punch from Shin. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The fighters circling - Mierta throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Mierta throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Mierta takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Mierta throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Shin's waist but Shin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mierta off to one side. Shin lands with an uppercut that bounces Mierta off the cage and back into range. Shin throws an overhand right that lands on Mierta's shoulder, as Mierta tries to avoid the shot. A solid leg kick lands there for Mierta.
A swing and a miss from Mierta. Shin has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off. Shin slips a straight right by Mierta. Mierta tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Shin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Shin has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Mierta finds it's way round the side to connect with Shin's head.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Shin lands a leg kick that knocks Mierta off balance momentarily. Shin displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Mierta throws out the jab. Shin swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Shin lands a glancing blow to the side of Mierta's head. A solid leg kick lands there for Shin.
Shin throws a solid leg kick but Mierta takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Shin. Nice body punch from Shin. A nice leg kick lands there from Shin. A low kick lands for Mierta.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Shin. Mierta staying out of range there. Mierta changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Mierta misses with an attempted mid kick.
Mierta rushes Shin and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Shin. Stalling in the clinch from Mierta.
Mierta lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Shin backwards. Shin lands a right hand. This has been an exciting period of action! Still in the clinch, Shin scores with a nice short uppercut.

Mierta lands with a left to the head. Mierta throws a punch but it's blocked by Shin. Shin lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Mierta or not. Mierta tries a knee to the head but Shin blocks it.

It looks like Ji Soo Shin has been cut. Mierta tries to pull guard but Shin holds him up against the cage and eventually Mierta drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Serta Mierta. That's going to take a lot out of him. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Mierta's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Shin swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Shin lands with a right to the head. Shin scores with an uppercut up the middle. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Ji Soo Shin dominated that round. The cut man is working on Ji Soo Shin's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Shin with a nice cross. A big left from Shin misses. Nice jab there from Shin. Shin is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Mierta. Mierta avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Mierta shoots for a double leg takedown but Shin sprawls well. He's pushed Mierta's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Mierta is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Shin misses with a straight right. Shin scores with a nice right hand.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A punch lands to the side of Mierta 's head but he takes it in his stride. Shin connects with an inside leg kick. Mierta throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Mierta scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Shin is refusing to be controlled, as Mierta sits in half guard. Mierta is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard. Mierta trying to control the position from guard on top but Shin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Mierta looking to pass the guard.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Shin is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Mierta looking to pass the guard. Mierta being controlled here momentarily. Mierta pushing down on Shin's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Mierta is looking to take a break and control but Shin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Mierta passes the guard and advances to mount!

Mierta goes for an armbar but he's not got it� Shin turns into him and now he's in Mierta's guard.

Mierta isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Shin stacks Mierta on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Shin! Mierta gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Shin with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Mierta trying to control from the bottom.

Mierta throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Shin on the side of the head. Shin has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Shin fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Shin attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mierta stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Shin. Mierta walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Shin connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Mierta momentarily.
Mierta fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Shin manages to avoid it. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Shin lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Mierta takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Shin lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Mierta has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Mierta and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Mierta keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Shin connects with a leg kick. Mierta wants to clinch. Shin tries a quick counter leg kick but Mierta is wise to it. Mierta throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Mierta takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Mierta throws a leg kick but Shin sees it coming and moves out of range. A slapping body kick lands there for Shin. Shin throws a leg kick but Mierta sees it coming and checks it nicely. Mierta throws a leg kick but Shin moved away. Mierta takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Mierta throws a nice looking combination but Shin bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Good work by Mierta as he checks the leg kick. Mierta tries to counter by clinching up but Shin breaks away and moves out of range. Mierta scores with a jab to the body. Mierta will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Mierta ducked under it nicely. Shin dips down and scores with a jab to the body. A nice leg kick from Shin, right into the meat of the thigh.

Eddie Alvarez decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marc Schlager! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 17 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Eric Frost! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, William Gold and Richard Clark.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Schlager looks to clinch
and Frost counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Schlager! Frost tries to move into full mount but can't pass Schlager's legs. Frost keeps trying to improve his position. Frost gets to mount! Schlager was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Frost looking to control and managing it successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Frost is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Schlager can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Schlager sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Frost wants to pass to mount but Schlager is defending the position. Frost moves nicely into side control. Frost wants to lay and pray for a moment but Schlager keeps working. Schlager is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Frost off and has taken his back! Frost tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Schlager definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Schlager. Schlager keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
