The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bourbon takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Vosa tries to clinch there but Bourbon circles away.

Bourbon tries to work over Vosa's front leg with a kick but Vosa checks it.
Vosa throws a head kick that half lands.

and Bourbon counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Bourbon uses his free foot to push down on Vosa's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Vosa.
Vosa is looking to improve his position but Bourbon isn't that keen on the idea.
Vosa tries to hold on but Bourbon pushes him away.

Bourbon really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Bourbon stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Bourbon feints and as Vosa raises his hands in defense, Bourbon changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Bourbon is nestled in close to Vosa, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Bourbon in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Vosa tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Bourbon!

A relieved looking Francois Bourbon thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.

Undercard bout

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Amari Howell (ranked 1552 p4p, 2497 weight class) and Mehdi Kanaani (ranked 157 p4p, 258 weight class). Kanaani comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Dr. Dre ft. Snoop Dogg - Nuthin' But A G Thang kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Mehdi Kanaani struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 157.8lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Mehdi Kanaani will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Howell closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
