Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

A slow jab from Higgins misses its intended target.

and Soares counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Soares drives through and clinches with Higgins against the cage.

Higgins working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Higgins throws a punch but it's blocked by Soares.
Higgins pushes Soares back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Soares turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Soares manages to end up in side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Soares lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Higgins down.
Soares is putting a hurting on Higgins here, landing some big shots from side control.

Higgins is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Soares has just dragged him back down to the mat.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Soares thows a huge punch but Higgins dodges it nicely.
