Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jet Gunner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gilbervan Soares!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Anthony Taglia and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gunner looks to throw the jab but Soares is out of range.
Gunner cracks Soares with a right hand to the side of the head.
Gunner scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Gunner jabs at Soares's body.
Nice jab there from Gunner.
Soares has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Soares there as he acknowledges the shot.
Gunner takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
A left lands for Gunner.
Soares jabs Gunner to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Soares appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

We've been hearing reports that Gunner has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Soares displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Gunner throws out the jab.
Soares shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gunner pinned against the cage. Gunner gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Gunner's corner calls for a 1-2. Gunner obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

And Soares tries to counter it with a takedown but Gunner pushes his down on his head and steps out.

I really don't envy Gunner right now.

That was a close round but I would say that Jet Gunner will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Soares throws out a counter right but Gunner avoids it with no problem.
Soares is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Gunner rather than just go for the knockout.
Soares avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A nice side step and Soares releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Gunner lands with a hook. Soares tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gunner is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Soares.
Gunner fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Soares looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Gunner lunges at Soares with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Soares's hand.

Soares drives through with a takedown into guard.

Gunner utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Gunner has momentary wrist control but Soares slips an elbow through the middle.

Gunner is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Soares is aware though and is defending well.
Soares lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Gunner is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Soares got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gunner has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Soares has managed to get both his arms back between Gunner's legs - danger averted.
Soares in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Soares chips away with some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Soares wants to control from the top but Gunner keeps moving.

Soares throws an elbow that misses. Gunner uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Soares's guard. Nice move by Gunner!

Soares is looking to sweep but instead, Gunner has passed into half guard.
Soares is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Soares manages to get to full guard.

Gunner avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Soares has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Gunner has passed into side control.
Gunner tries to move to mount but Soares blocks the move with his legs.
Soares tries to buck Gunner off but Gunner is having none of it.
Gunner wants to lay and pray for a moment but Soares keeps working.
Soares is looking to reverse the position.

I really don't envy Soares right now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Soares looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Soares might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Gunner haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Soares wants to control his opponent's hands but Gunner gets his hands free.
Gunner is trying to stick to Soares's back but Soares is turning into Gunner. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Gunner's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Soares.

Soares throws a sloppy strike and Gunner has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Soares is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Gunner!
