Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Davido Monto (ranked 2287 p4p, 214 weight class) and Jake Bird (ranked 330 p4p, 29 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 15 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, Davido Monto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 18 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jake Bird! The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Eliza Hachem and Ben Hemmingworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bird drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Monto working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Bird has passed into half guard!
Monto is looking for a sweep. Bird is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Monto manages to get to full guard.
Bird seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Monto is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bird defends well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Monto is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Monto keeping full guard, as Bird tries to pass. Bird trying to control the position from guard on top but Monto is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bird advances position into side control! Bird wants to control but Monto is keeping him busy. Monto striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
Monto sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Monto is trying to get back to full guard. Bird is trying to control the action in half guard but Monto is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Bird looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Bird works his foot free and advances to mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Monto gets back to half guard. Monto looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Monto looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bird is trying to control the action in half guard but Monto is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Monto is looking for a sweep. Bird is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Bird is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Monto defends it well. Monto looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Bird wants to lay and pray for a moment but Monto keeps working.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bird slows the pace down in half guard. Bird is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Monto sees it coming and defends easily. Monto is looking to improve his position.
Bird trying to mount his opponent but Monto defends it. Monto looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Bird controlling the action here. Monto tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Monto tries to roll over but Bird keeps him under control. Monto punching from the bottom.
Bird passes the guard and advances to mount! Monto is desperately trying to improve his position but Bird has a good base and remains in mount. Bird has control of Monto's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Monto regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Bird controlling the pace for now. Monto is working to get back to half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Bird content just to control the position here. Monto really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Jake Bird dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Bird shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Monto throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Bird maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Monto could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Bird has cracked it and Monto is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Bird!
