Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Edward Grubbs (ranked 1304 p4p, 1074 weight class) and Bofur Widenose (ranked 193 p4p, 171 weight class). Bofur Widenose has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Edward Grubbs! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bofur Widenose! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Wagner Zegers and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Grubbs missing with a left hand there. Widenose was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Widenose changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. We've been informed that Widenose has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Grubbs throws a lazy uppercut
and Widenose counters with a takedown into side control. Widenose wants to lay and pray for a moment but Grubbs keeps working. Widenose lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Widenose swings around for an armbar but Grubbs sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Widenose's guard. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Widenose holds on and takes a little breather. Grubbs would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Grubbs trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Widenose wants to control the position but Grubbs says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Widenose is looking to control Grubbs's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Widenose avoid being mounted?

and Widenose counters with a shoot takedown. Grubbs fights it but they end up in guard. Widenose wants to control from the top but Grubbs keeps moving. Widenose throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Grubbs works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Grubbs wants to stand and escape but Widenose is having none of it. Grubbs keeping moving, preventing Widenose from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Grubbs pushes Widenose off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Edward Grubbs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Grubbs scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Grubbs swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Widenose drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Grubbs defends it well. Grubbs circles away from the clinch attempt.

Grubbs is trying to buck Widenose off. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Widenose landing a few strikes. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Edward Grubbs will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action! Grubbs misses the shot to the body. Grubbs lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. A swing and a miss from Grubbs. Widenose changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Widenose moves out of range of the strikes. Widenose is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Widenose tries to clinch up. Grubbs throws a shot from downtown. Widenose moves away and avoids it. Widenose takes the fight into the clinch. Grubbs tries to circle away but Widenose has him pinned against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Grubbs cracks Widenose with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Widenose dives in for a single leg takedown but Grubbs sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Grubbs misses with an uppercut
and Widenose counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Grubbs will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Widenose throws a big right hand that misses. Widenose cracks Grubbs with a solid left hand. Grubbs is looking to stand up but Widenose isn't so interested in that idea. Widenose trying to control the position from guard on top but Grubbs is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Grubbs wants to stand up but Widenose is controlling him. Widenose throwing strikes but missing. Widenose with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Widenose pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Grubbs is keeping the position for now. Grubbs wants to stand but Widenose is controlling the position. Grubbs has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Widenose is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Grubbs wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Widenose is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Grubbs to keep the fight standing. Widenose is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Grubbs can't fight it off and eventually Widenose manages to take the fight to the floor. Grubbs looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Grubbs keeping moving, preventing Widenose from controlling successfully.

He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Grubbs's guard. Grubbs pushes Widenose off and scrambles back to his feet.
Grubbs cracks Widenose with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Grubbs throws a hook to the side of Widenose's head but Widenose sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Widenose slips under a jab from Grubbs. Widenose tries to clinch up but Grubbs circles away and keeps his distance. Grubbs misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Widenose.

Grubbs dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Grubbs throws a body shot but no joy. Widenose tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Widenose walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Grubbs throws a body punch but Widenose moves out of range. Widenose in side control lands a decent elbow. Grubbs is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Widenose can do to turn this around? Grubbs on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Widenose has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Grubbs is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Widenose has just dragged him back down to the mat.

And that's the end of the fight! Edward Grubbs showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Grubbs, winning every round. Will the judges agree?
