Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lamont Banner (ranked 1908 p4p, 2140 weight class) and Rico Cole (ranked 256 p4p, 278 weight class). Cole has chosen Gerardo's Rico Suave as his entrance music. Rico Cole struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 156.2lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 21 - 1, fighting out of New York, Lamont Banner !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 42 - 33 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Rico Cole!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Ron Honeybunn and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cole throws an off balance right hand
and Banner connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Banner ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Banner misses with a two punch combination.
Cole throws a sloppy body shot
and Banner counters with a three punch combo that has Cole backing up. Cole nods at Banner to acknowledge the strikes.
Banner uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Cole.
Banner swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Cole looks to score with a jab to the body but Banner is just out of range.
Banner slips a straight right by Cole.
Banner chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Cole can pounce on him.
Cole throws a poor cross that misses
and Banner counters with a left and a right that stings Cole.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Banner moves out of range of the strikes.
Cole lands a slapping body shot.
A lazy left from Cole finds it's target.
Nice shot by Cole.
Cole looks to land a right hand but Banner moved out of range.
Cole just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromBanner .
Cole swings widly with a right hand
and Banner counters with a straight right hand.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Cole rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
letting Banner counter with a right hand.
Banner is breathing heavily.
Cole misses with a hook
and Banner counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Cole is rocked!
Cole works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Cole uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Banner has time to react.

Cole throws a hook to the side of Banner 's head but Banner sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Oh Banner is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Cole cracks Banner with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Banner falls to his knees and Cole doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rico Cole!
After winning the bout, Rico Cole thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
