PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Khuchtei Bokhchuud (ranked 635 p4p, 979 weight class) and Derrick Lewis (ranked 102 p4p, 145 weight class). Bokhchuud comes to the cage accompanied by ErgeSholee Biste Turda. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Khuchtei Bokhchuud!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Derrick Lewis!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Percy O'Donnell and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bokhchuud has taken the fight to the clinch.
Lewis slowing the pace effectively.
Bokhchuud throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Lewis blocks it with crossed arms.
Lewis tries to pull guard but Bokhchuud forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Lewis decides to pull guard.
Lewis bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bokhchuud's guard.

Bokhchuud is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Lewis is controlling him.
Bokhchuud keeping moving, preventing Lewis from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lewis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bokhchuud swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bokhchuud wants to stand and escape but Lewis is having none of it.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Bokhchuud kicks Lewis off and gets to his feet.

Bokhchuud has managed to clinch.
Bokhchuud misses with a hook from the clinch.

Lewis gets control of Bokhchuud's arms and successfully pulls guard. Lewis will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Lewis is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bokhchuud defends well.

Bokhchuud gets to his feet. Lewis looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Lewis gets tackled into the cage by Bokhchuud. Bokhchuud maintains the clinch.

Lewis manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Bokhchuud trying to stand up but can't free himself from Lewis's guard.

Bokhchuud decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bokhchuud darts in and clinches Lewis up against the cage.
Bokhchuud lands a left hand.
Lewis is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Bokhchuud to keep the fight standing.
Bokhchuud misses with the head strike.
Lewis avoids the elbow strike from Bokhchuud, against the cage.

Bokhchuud tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Lewis avoids it.
Bokhchuud connects with a nasty looking knee right to Lewis's face.

It looks like Derrick Lewis has been cut.
Lewis managing to block the knees to the body from Bokhchuud.
Lewis blocks an elbow strike.

Lewis has Bokhchuud pushed against the cage.
Lewis is pushing Bokhchuud up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Bokhchuud throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Bokhchuud lands with a short shot to the head.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Bokhchuud misses with an elbow strike.
Lewis is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Lewis decides to pull guard.
Bokhchuud wants to get up but he can't break Lewis's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Our spies down at at MMA Training and Sparring Buddies inform us that Lewis has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Bokhchuud wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Lewis's closed guard. He's half up but Lewis has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Lewis pivots and extends the arm, Bokhchuud falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Lewis! Well done that man!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Derrick Lewis!
In defeat, Khuchtei Bokhchuud stepped up to the mic, saying 'Сайн байна "Sain baina"-Translation well Shit!'.
