Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Cormac Mac Airt (ranked 190 p4p, 352 weight class) and Rokken Roll (ranked 33 p4p, 57 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cormac Mac Airt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rokken Roll!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Daniel Bishop and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Roll closes the distance and pushes Mac Airt back into the cage.
Mac Airt lands a hook to the side of the head.

Mac Airt pulls guard effortlessly.
Roll trying to control but Mac Airt is working from the bottom.
Mac Airt is looking to stand up but Roll isn't so interested in that idea.
Roll looking to pass the guard.
Mac Airt keeping moving, preventing Roll from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Roll tries to free his leg and advance position but Mac Airt is retaining full guard.
Mac Airt wants to stand and escape but Roll is having none of it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Nice defenses there by Mac Airt.
Cormac Mac Airt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mac Airt tries to close the distance and clinch but Roll swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Mac Airt has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Roll after a bit of a struggle.
I was talking to Mac Airt's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Mac Airt is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Roll has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Mac Airt has Roll pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Roll manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Roll gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Mac Airt wants to stand up but Roll is controlling him.
Roll slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Mac Airt appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Roll tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Mac Airt rushes Roll and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Mac Airt fails to pull guard.
Roll tries to throw a body punch but Mac Airt avoids it by throwing Roll back against the cage.
Roll gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Mac Airt.
Roll wants to take the fight to the mat but Mac Airt manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Roll lands with a short shot to the head.
Mac Airt misses with a hook from the clinch.
Mac Airt is trying to pull guard but Roll has him pressed against the cage.
Mac Airt jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Roll walks away with a smile on his face. Mac Airt gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Mac Airt forces Roll back against the cage and clinches.

Mac Airt is trying to trip Roll. He has hold of a leg but Roll is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Mac Airt persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Roll controls Mac Airt momentarily but Mac Airt frees himself.
Roll is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mac Airt won't allow Roll to sweep him here.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Rokken Roll will probably get the nod.
That's time! Mac Airt's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Mac Airt is looking to clinch but Roll is avoiding it.
Roll will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Roll fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Mac Airt turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Roll is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Roll is still trying to improve position.

Mac Airt tries to stand but Roll controls the position and pulls Mac Airt into his guard.

Roll is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mac Airt is aware though and is defending well.
Mac Airt has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Roll is proving hard to escape from.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Roll closes the distance and clinches.

Mac Airt gets control of Roll's arms and successfully pulls guard. Mac Airt will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Roll advances position into side control!

Roll goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Mac Airt has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Roll but great work by Mac Airt.

Cormac Mac Airt overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Roll manages to work his way to half guard, despite Mac Airt's best efforts.

Roll is looking to control Mac Airt's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Roll avoid being mounted?

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Roll had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mac Airt defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Roll looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Mac Airt puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

A quick step to the side and Mac Airt tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Roll is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Roll isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Mac Airt stacks Roll on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Mac Airt!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Roll throws a quick inside leg kick.
A nice leg kick from Roll, right into the meat of the thigh.
Mac Airt is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Cormac Mac Airt.
I think Mac Airt has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
