PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joe Kamaka (ranked 1949 p4p, 2865 weight class) and Derrick Ryker (ranked 240 p4p, 322 weight class). Kamaka comes to the cage accompanied by Carcass - Heartwork. Derrick Ryker is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe Kamaka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Derrick Ryker!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Yves DeLean and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kamaka avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Kamaka closes the distance and clinches.
Ryker tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kamaka smiles and moves away.
Kamaka scores with a hook to the body. Ryker takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Ryker tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ryker walks into a straight right hand from Kamaka.
Kamaka throws a shot to the body.
Kamaka lands the left hand.
Ryker tries to clinch up.
Ryker on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Kamaka will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Nice uppercut there from Kamaka.
Kamaka avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kamaka rushes Ryker and presses him up against the cage.
Kamaka working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Ryker tries to pull guard but Kamaka won't allow it.
Ryker tries to pull guard but Kamaka forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Joe Kamaka has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Derrick Ryker.
Kamaka makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Ryker fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Ryker tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kamaka just stands there and leans against the cage.

Ryker tries to pull guard but Kamaka holds him up against the cage and eventually Ryker drops back down to his feet.
Kamaka tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Ryker tries to pull guard but Kamaka forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Ryker jumps guard but Kamaka turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Kamaka lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Ryker fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Ryker tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kamaka just stands there and leans against the cage.
Kamaka lands with a left to the head.
Kamaka lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Kamaka lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Kamaka throws an elbow that misses.

Ryker drags the fight down to the ground.
Ryker controls Kamaka momentarily but Kamaka frees himself.
Kamaka looking to sit in guard and control but Ryker gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ryker preventing the sweep.
Kamaka is trying to control the position but Ryker postures up.
Kamaka definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Ryker looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kamaka looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ryker is one step ahead there.
Ryker seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kamaka wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Ryker is now in half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Kamaka dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Ryker wants to clinch up but Kamaka keeps it at a distance.

Kamaka clinches up with Ryker and pushes him back against the cage.
Ryker tries to pull guard but Kamaka holds him up against the cage and eventually Ryker drops back down to his feet.

Ryker drags the fight down to the ground.
Kamaka trying to control but Ryker is working from the bottom.

Ryker looking for a triangle here. Kamaka is fighting it but it looks tight! Ryker pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Kamaka is tapping out - this one is all over!
