PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mandlenkosi Thulani (ranked 1086 p4p, 796 weight class) and Bill Smif (ranked 62 p4p, 34 weight class). Thulani comes to the cage accompanied by Zara - Sojaboy. Smif is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Playtime. On his way into the cage it seems that Mandlenkosi Thulani has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Mandlenkosi Thulani seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mandlenkosi Thulani!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bill Smif!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, William Gold and Sam Margolis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thulani misses with a body shot
and Smif counters with a lovely straight right hand!

It looks like Mandlenkosi Thulani has been cut.
Thulani takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Thulani steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Smif.
Thulani has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Smif ducks under a wild hook from Thulani.
Thulani throws a right and a left that both miss.
Thulani throws a predictable looking body shot
and Smif counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Thulani's jab looks to have found its range, popping Smif under the eye.
Thulani misses with an uppercut
and Smif counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Thulani just misses with a punch to the body.
Smif is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Thulani with a body shot.
Thulani misses with a looping left.
Smif doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Smif throws a lazy right hand but Thulani sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Thulani misses with a left hand
and Smif makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Smif moves out of range as Thulani strikes.
Smif doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.

Thulani misses with a left hand
and Smif counters with a right hand to the body.
Thulani is breathing heavily.

Smif drops Thulani with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Thulani looks back up at him and smiles so Smif waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Smif jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Thulani misses with a left hand
and Smif scores with a counter punch that sends Thulani to the canvas! Smif smells blood - he's punishing Thulani with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Thulani has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bill Smif!
After winning the bout, Bill Smif thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
