The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brandstatter tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Van Den Born throws a quick counter head kick but Brandstatter was just out of range.
Brandstatter shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Van Den Born sprawls well. Van Den Born wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Brandstatter gets slowly back to his feet.

Brandstatter tries to score a power double leg takedown but Van Den Born sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Brandstatter somewhat.

Van Den Born lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Brandstatter breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Van Den Born walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Brandstatter checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Van Den Born enables Brandstatter to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Van Den Born manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Ko Van Den Born seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Brandstatter shoots in looking for a takedown but Van Den Born manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Brandstatter's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Brandstatter will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Brandstatter crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Van Den Born - the referee stops the clock and Brandstatter gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Van Den Born. Brandstatter manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Van Den Born comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Brandstatter avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Van Den Born drops Brandstatter with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Brandstatter! Van Den Born dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
