Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jesus Sanchez (ranked 2359 p4p, 2148 weight class) and Wesley Shutes (ranked 342 p4p, 314 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Sanchez might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Duele El Carazon. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 21 - 22 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jesus Sanchez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 16 - 14 - 2, fighting out of London, Wesley Shutes! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shigeki Sano and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shutes scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Shutes misses with a straight left. Sanchez closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Shutes did well to prevent Sanchez getting side control. Shutes works his way to full guard. Good work. Sanchez controls from within his opponent's guard. Sanchez has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Shutes throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Sanchez escapes and throws Shutes's legs to the side, diving into side control! Sanchez is looking to take a break and control but Shutes is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We've been hearing good reports from Sanchez's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Sanchez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Shutes avoids it really well and circles away. Shutes darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Sanchez with a lazy takedown attempt and Shutes counters with a left to the body. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jesus Sanchez. That's going to take a lot out of him. A nice inside leg kick there by Shutes. That's going to slow Sanchez down. Sanchez looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Shutes has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Sanchez is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. This has been an exciting period of action! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Sanchez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Shutes can do to turn this around? A jab from Shutes does it's job there. Shutes connects with an inside leg kick. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Shutes cracks Sanchez with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Sanchez with a poor takedown and Shutes counters with a lovely straight right hand! Shutes has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

Sanchez shoots in looking for a takedown. Shutes tries to sprawl out of it but Sanchez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shutes manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Shutes stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Shutes wants it to stay on the feet. Shutes stuffs the takedown attempt from Sanchez. Sanchez gets slowly back to his feet. Sanchez takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Sanchez tries for a takedown but Shutes circles away easily and Shutes cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Sanchez fails with the takedown and Shutes counters with a straight right hand.

Sanchez drops down looking for a counter takedown but Shutes sprawls and moves away. Shutes throws a head kick that misses. Shutes gets a clinch. A short right hand to the side of the head by Shutes. Shutes working some nice short punches in the clinch. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Shutes stops a takedown attempt from Sanchez.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Sanchez has Shutes pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Shutes manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Sanchez changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Shutes fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Wesley Shutes is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Shutes throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Shutes connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Sanchez's hands. Shutes getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Shutes connects with a leg kick. Shutes stuffs the takedown attempt from Sanchez. Sanchez gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shutes scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Sanchez sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Shutes moves into range and connects with a jab. Shutes chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Sanchez shoots in and drives through. Shutes sprawls well. Sanchez shoots in for a double leg but Shutes sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Sanchez takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Shutes lands the left hand. Shutes scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Sanchez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Shutes as he jumps to the side. Shutes tries a quick counter leg kick but Sanchez is wise to it. Sanchez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Shutes avoids it really well and circles away.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sanchez is defended easily by Shutes. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Shutes, as that shot connected.
Shutes lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sanchez circles away quickly and effectively. Sanchez gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Shutes counters with a head kick.
And that's the end of the fight! Wesley Shutes comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Shutes has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
