Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Honza Hohol!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gord Ryan!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Sano and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hohol misses with a takedown
and Ryan counters with a nice right hand that sends Hohol toppling to the canvas! Hohol scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Ryan finish him?!
Ryan stuffs the takedown attempt from Hohol. Hohol gets slowly back to his feet.
Ryan looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Ryan thows a left - swing and a miss!
Hohol shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Ryan counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Honza Hohol. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ryan connects with a body shot that sends Hohol's belly button to the back.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hohol keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Hohol drops his hands momentarily. Ryan doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Hohol staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Hohol doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Gord Ryan!
During a confident post fight interview, Gord Ryan thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
